Photo above:© Paco Chiclana.18.6.2009 (5) Tarragona An adult was seen at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l'Ebre, on 26.6 (Ricard Gutiérrez, Juan Antonio Lorenzo). This bird was not breeding despite there is a Greater Flamingo colony there and showed no signs of captivity. Photo above:© Luis Mario Arce. 4.6.2009 (2) Valencia From 22-24.6, a bird was seen at Racó de l'Olla saltmarsh, l'Albufera de Valencia (J.I.Dies, B. Dies, M.Chardí, I.Ruíz and others).
(2) Asturies. A 1st summer was seen at Villamil, Tapia de Casariego, Asturias on 8.6 (Pablo Fernández). The bird remained in the area on 11.6 (Pablo Fernández). See a couple of photos below- It was still in ther area on 18.6 (Pablo Fernández).

Vigo, Pontevedra (Yolanda Ozaeta, Esther Abad, Gorka Ocio
y Xulio Valeiras). On 12.6 the same bird was seen nearby at Isla de Toralla, Vigo (Xulio Valeiras).
(3) Barcelona. On 6.6 one of these 'birds' was seen fishing along Llobregat delta beach at El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona (Xavier Larruy, Raul Bastida). (4) Almería The bird seen from 1.5 at Cabo de Gata saltpans, Almería remained in the area on 24-25.6 (Raimundo Martín).
(5-8) Sevilla There were four at Lora del río, Sierra Norte de Sevilla,Sevilla on 3.6 (Jose Luis Anguita, (9-14) Cádiz. There were six at Guadalquivir river mouth on 18.6 (Paco Chiclana, Heinz Lunscher, Fernando del Valle y Ricardo Martín-Baylo)

list from January 2006. New rarities include Sylvia curruca, Crex crex,
Sterna bengalensis and others. Larus delawarensis and Anthus
richardi have been withdrawn from the rarity list and are not be included
from 2006. Recent reports includes the latest sightings from the whole of Spain which are both personal observations, communications or have been released in E-Mail lists. Please contact the authors before using any photo for anything else than personal reference. Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent. Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those.
