(1) Sevilla A rossicus bird was seen at Isla Mayor ricefields, Sevilla on 25.10 (Paco Chiclana)

Egyptian Goose Alopochen aegyptiaca (1)
(1) Cádiz. Bery probably the same bird that was seen at Alventus marshes, Trebujena, Cádiz on 8.8 was seen again at the same place on 6.10 (Paco Chiclana, Rafael García Costales)

Green-winged Teal Anas carolinensis (1)
(1) Asturies On 12.10 a drake was seen at El Cierrón, Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies (Xuan Cortés).Seen again on 27.10 at the same place (Iván Sarabia)

Lesser Scaup Aythya affinis (1)
(1) León On 27.10 morning, a drake was found at Selga de Ordás reservoir. Last year, on 28.10.2006, four Lesser Scaups were seen in that place too (Carlos Zumalacárregui)

Pied-billed Grebe Podylimbus podiceps (1)
(1) Lugo The bird seen at Riocaldo lagoons, Begonte, Lugo on 23.8 was still there on 7.10 (José Otero). See photos in his blog (opens in another window)

Western Reef Heron Egretta gularis (1,2)
(1) Cádiz On 25.10.2007, a dark morph individual, presumably pure, was seen at Puerto Real, Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, Cádiz (Rafael García Costales). It may well be an individual seen the last winters since 2004-05.
(2) Cádiz A presumed hybrid was seen at Trebujena, Cádiz on 16.10 (Les Battle). See a thumbnail here.

Rüppell's Vulture Gyps rueppellii (1-2,3)
(1-2) Cádiz Two 1w were seen on a cliff at Santuario, Tarifa, Cádiz on 2.10 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui). Perhaps one of those birds (but there may be more) was seen at Algarrobo watchpoint on 1.10 and roosteing on cliffs north of Hotel La Codorniz, c.4 km W of Tarifa, Cádiz on 2-3.10 (Ian Kinley, Fred Gould, Ronnie Irving, Dave Thexton).Perhaps one of these or another was seen in flight over Mirador del Estrecho, between Tarifa and Algeciras on 12.10 (Goyo Para). (3) Cádiz On 26.10.2007, one was seen near Tarifa and on 27.10.2007, 3 birds (this and perhaps birds 1-2), were seen near Tarifa feeding in a carrion formed by different cows (Todor Todorov). See a photo below and a thumbnail here (T.Todorov)

(1) Ciudad Real An adult was seen at Fuenllana, Villanueva de los Infantes, Ciudad Real on 5.10. It was seen perched and hunting in the area (Xurxo Pinheiro).Seen again on 6.10 (Óscar Llama, Jerónimo Corral).

Lanner Falco biarmicus(1)
(1) Cádiz The bird seen in La Janda, on 25.9 was seen again on 3.10 (Ian Kinley, Fred Gould, Ronnie Irving, Dave Thexton) and 10.10 (R.Marsh, S.Boddington & K & J. Gascoigne).

American Golden Plover Pluvialis dominica (1)
(1) A Coruña At Ensenada da Insua, Ponteceso y Cabana de Bergantiños, a juvenile was found on 21.10.2007 (José Luis Rabuñal). Description already submitted to the Rarities Committee.

Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos(1,2,3)
(1)Valencia The juvenile found on 25.9 at Tancat de la Ratlla, Silla, L'Albufera de València, València was last seen on 1.10.2007 (Bosco Dies)
(2) Lanzarote On 10.10 a juvenile was found in a pond of the future Tías Golf-course, Lanzarote (Francisco Javier García Vargas, Antonio Unquiles, Juan Sagardía). On 14.10 it was still in the same place (F.J. García Vargas). See a photo below (F.J. García Vargas) and another one (J.Sagardia).

(3) Navarra On 19.10 (Ricardo Rodríguez ) and 20.10 (Xabier Remírez, Gorka Gorospe) a juvenile was seen at Balsa de Zolina, Aranguren valley, Navarra.Still around on 22.10 (Ricardo Rodríguez).

Buff-breasted Sandpiper Tryngitges subruficollis (1,2)
(1) Barcelona Thew bird found on 28.9 at Ca l'Arana beach, El Prat de Llobregat, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona continued there on 1-2.10 (Ferran López). (1) Asturies On 16.10 a bird was found at playa de Bañugues, Gozón, Asturias (Quique Carballal del Valle).It was sen again on 17.10 (Daniel López Velasco, Jorge Valella), 18.10 (José Guerra, Nacho Vega, Pablo Menéndez Fernández-Miranda, Daniel López Velasco ) and 20.10 (Blas López, Paco Villalobos, Paco Ríos, Pepe Herrera, Nacho García, Antonio Pérez, Andrés Serrano, Juanjo y Patricia) See a thumbnail here (José Guerra).Still there on 26.10 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui) and 27.10 (Iván Sarabia, L. (1-2) Asturies Two were seen off Punta de la Vaca, Gozón, Asturies on 17.10 morning (Elias  García-Sánchez)
(3-4) Asturies Two were seen off Punta de la Vaca, Gozón, Asturies on 17.10 afternoon(Daniel López-Velasco, Jorge Valella)

Baltic Gull Larus fuscus fuscus (1)
(1) Madrid An individual of this subspecies carrying a white PVC ring 'C7HC', thus from fuscus populations in Finland was seen on 14.10 at Colmenar Viejo dump, Madrid (Miguel Juan, Javier Marchamalo). The subspecific identification has been confirmed once ringing details have been known, since field recognition of fuscus is extremely, if even possible, difficult and unringed birds are best left as 'bird showing characters of' rather than anything else. (1) Asturies On 27.10 an adult was seen 10 nautic miles N off Gijon, Asturies (Jorge Valella, Daniel López Velasco)

(1) Málaga An adult was found at Gualdalhorce river mouth on 3.10 afternoon (Ángel García López, Antonio Tamayo, Andy Paterson). See a photo below (Ángel García).

(2-6) Melilla There were at least five birds (three adults and two 1w) at isla del Rey, Chafarinas islands, Melilla on 6.10. Another (or one of those) birds was seen c.1-2 nautic miles off Melilla (Juan Bécares, Josep Torrent, Gonzalo Martínez). 
(7-8) Cádiz There were two at Guadiaro river mouth, San Roque, Cádiz on 8.10 (Richard Banham/GOES).
(9) Málaga A 1w was found at Fuengirola harbour on 16.10 (Antonio Tamayo). It was still present on 17-19.10 (Todor Todorov)
(10) Gibraltar On 4.10 a bird was seen from Europa point, Gibraltar, associated to a flock of fishing Sandwich Terns (Charles Pérez/GONHS).

(1) Asturies. On 21.10, a bird was seen while entering from the sea within a Skylark flock at Bañugues beach, Gozón, Asturies, while watching the Spotted Sandpiper present in the area (Elias Garcia-Sanchez, Daniel López Velasco)

(7)Valencia On 23.10 a bird was seen in a poplar wood at Muntanyeta dels Sants de la Pedra Seca, Sueca, Parc Natural de l'Albufera de València, València (Bosco Dies).
(8)Valencia On 25.10 a ringed individual (!!!) was seen at Viveros gardens at Valencia city, c.27 km NNW of the (7) observation. It was another bird since this was ringed (Javier García i Gans). Editorial note: may be that the Llobregat bird (no.5 above) heading south?.
(9) Málaga A bird was reported on 25.10 near Frigiliana, Málaga (Mr.Collens)
(10) Málaga A bird was trapped and ringed on 23.10 at Ardales, Málaga (José.A.Cortés). There are photos in the SEO-Málaga website.

(1) Pontevedra The bird present since 4.7.2006 at A Laxe de Rons area, O  Grove/Ogrobe, Pontevedra, Galicia was still around on 3.10.2007 (Cosme Damián Romai).and on 28.10, associated to Carrion Crows (C.D. Romai)
(2) A Coruña  The bird that had been seen during last spring and early summer and that reapperared last September at Cariño, A Coruña, was seen again on 6.10 eating a dead fish (Ricardo Hevia)

Northern Fulmar Fulmarus glacialis (1)
(1) Gran Canaria A bird was collected by a fisherman at Las Nieves, Agaete, NW Gran Canaria island on 7.10. The fisherman saw the fulmar while being in bad condition and under an attack of Yellow-legged Gulls L.michahellis atlantis. He decided to capture the bird and bring it to a recovery center. It stayed in the Recovery Center of Tafira, from the Gran Canaria Cabildo where the veterinary, Pascual Calabuig recover it from its low weight and overall bad condition. The bird condition improved and it was released, once ringed, on 10.10 at Taliarte, Telde, Gran Canaria. See two photos below (Pascual Calabuig)

First Lesser Scaup this season: a male at Selga de Ordás Reservoir, León, arriving almost timely and coinciding with last year dates... a regular movement rather than a vagrancy? (Carlos Zumalacárregui)
