(1) A Coruña The bird seen in previous monthas at Ria de Ortigueira, A Coruña, was seen again on 20.3 (Pablo Fernández, Clemente Álvarez Usategui) and 21.3 (Cosme D.Romai).

Pink-footed Goose* Anser brachyrhynchus (1-2,3)
(1-2) Asturies On 1.3 there were 2 at ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies together with two Greylag Geese A.anser (A.Villaverde).One of them remained in the area on 8.3 (A.Villaverde) and into 21.3 (A.Villaverde; Clemente Álvarez Usategui)
(3) A Coruña A bird was at Cecebre reservoir, A Coruña on 15.3 (Belén Arenal). See a thumbnail here and 18.3 (Cosme D. Romai), when was observed and photographed amongst feral geese at Nebrixe, Cambre. Its tame behaviour and association with feral geese brings doubts on its origin (C.D.Romai)

(1) Girona The bird seen last month at Tordera river mouth, Blanes remained there on 20.3 (Quique Carballal)
(2) Cantabria On 21.3 a bird was seen at PN Marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel, Cantabria (Alejandro García Herrera)
(3) Girona A bird was seen at Estanys de Sils, Sils, Girona on 22.3 (Mike O'Neill, Pedro Bescós). See a thumbnail here

Green-winged Teal* Anas carolinensis (1,2) 
(1) Asturies The drake found on 24.11.2006 at El Cierrón, Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies, was seen again on 2.3 (Adolfo Villaverde) and on 8.3 (A.Villaverde)
(2) Asturies A drake showing characters of this species but perhaps with a faded vertical stripe was seen at Ria del Eo, Asturies on 25.2 and 8.3 (Pablo Fernández). There is an image here (opens in another window)

Blue-winged Teal*Anas discors (1)
(1) Gran Canaria A drake was seen on 3-4.3 at an irrigation pond at Barranco de Tirajana, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria (Miguel Avelino).Still present on 9.3 and 16.3 (Miguel Avelino). See a thumbnail here.Last sighting was 16.3 (M.Avelino)

Ring-necked Duck* Aythya collaris(1,2,3-5,6)
(1) Tenerife An adult female Ring-necked Duck was on the Charca de El Fraile, Rasca, Tenerife, on 2nd March (J.L. & M.Muddeman). See a couple of thumbnails here (J.Muddeman). Still present on 12.3 (Nereida Herrera, Benito González).Still present on 21.3 (Eric Jan Alblas)
(2) Toledo  A female was seen on 7.3 at embalse de Turleque, Toledo (Tomás Velasco).Seen again on 9.3 (Xurxo Pinheiro) and on 21-22.3 (Luis Sánchez Vázquez-Prada).

(6) A Coruña The female reported last month from laguna de As Xarfas, Louro, Muros anjd laguna de Xuño, Porto do Son was seen on 18.3 at laguna de Muro, Porto do Son, A Coruña (Samuel Paz).See a thumbnail here

Lesser Scaup* Aythya affinis (1-2,3,4)
(1-2) Fuerteventura The two 1w drakes present at Catalina García reservoir from 29.11.2006 that continued into 2007 and were seen on January were relocated in the same pond on 6.3 (Marcus Lawson, communicated by Tony Clarke).
(3) Lanzarote The female reported earlier from Salinas de Janubio, Yaiza, Lanzarote and seen again on Feburary was seen again on 1.3 (Juan José Ramos Encalado) and 3.3 (F.J.García Vargas).See a photo below (FJ García Vargas)

(4) A Coruña On 22.3 the male previously featured in January and February was seen again with three Tufted Ducks (Aythya fuligula) at As Forcadas reservoir, Valdoviño, A Coruña (Cosme D. Romai, Atocha Ramos; Antonio F. Marín, Luz F. Miraz).

(1) Asturies The bird that reached Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies, on 27.12.2006 and continued there into the new year was seen again on 2.3 (Adolfo Villaverde).Seen again on 21.3 (Adolfo Villaverde)

Presumed Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret* Egretta gularis x garzetta (1,2,3,4)
(1) Valencia On 3.3 a bird was seen at Marjal dels Moros, Sagunt, València (Alejandra Taliansky, Alejandro Alamán, Arturo Cabos, Carlos Domínguez, Javier Pérez, Rafa Muñoz). See a thumbnail here. This bird was similar to the bird seen at Albufera de Valencia on 10.2This bird was seen on 10.3 at Marjal d'Almenara, Castelló. Its identification was done according to photo-evidence (Toni Alcocer)
(2) Málaga On 2-3.3 there was a hybrid at Rio Grande, Cártama, Málaga (Kevin Wade). See two photos below and two thumbnails  here. Note how similar this bird is to the bird (1).

(3) Tarragona The resident bird at the Tancada saltpans, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona was seen on 17.3 evening (Ricard Gutiérrez) and 18.3 morning (Roser Solé, Josep Tantull; R.Gutiérrez, Helena Arbonés, Dolors Arbonés, Gerard Gutiérrez, Ariadna Gutiérrez).
(4) Girona On 17.3 evening a bird showing hybrid characters was found at Sils lagoons, Sils, Girona amongst 48 Little Egrets E.garzetta (Javier Romera). It is clear that this is not the bird from Ebro delta given simultaneous sightings and it might be a bird seen already in 2006.See two thumbnails here (J.Romera). Bald Ibis* Geronticus eremita (1-9)
(1-9) Cádiz Nine birds, at least two without radio-transmitters (despite probably all of them coming from the reintroduction scheme) were initially seen at Tarifa, Cádiz on 24.2 and afterwards on 3.3 at Los Lances beach, flying N to Tarifa island heading N to Algeciras (Todor Todorov).All birds belong to reintroduction scheme in Cadiz (David Cuenca)

Lesser Flamingo* Phoenicopterus minor (1-3,4-8)
(1-3) Ciudad Real At Laguna de Camino de Villafranca, Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real, there was a bird on 3.3 (Xurxo Pinheiro).There were THREE adults altogether at Laguna Veguilla, Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real on 10.3 (Xurxo Pinheiro, Maria José Valencia). One of this birds, the paler, moved to Toledo where it was seen on 18.3 at laguna larga de Villacañas, Toledo in company of 80 Greater Flamingos. See three thumbnails here (Gabriel Martín). The two birds at Camino de Villafranca lagoon remained there into April (Xurxo Pinheiro).
(4-8) Málaga There were FIVE birds at Fuentedepiedra lagoon, Málaga on 17.3, TWO of them apparently breeding (laying like other breeding P.roseus) within the colony. See a photo below (Paco Chiclana).Birds had been seen mating on 14.3 (communication to Juan Luis Muñoz to Naturand list).

Editorial comment: These numbers of sightings and past records involving at least one of an adult and a 1w together are clearly speaking of an, at least in most of the cases, wild origin, thus 'A' category, for these birds and the species getting into the Spanish (and European) lists. It seems that the only minor ringed in Spain some years ago at Fuentedepiedra was indeed an escape already ringed in Germany and it was double ringed (thus carrying two metal rings, Jordi Clavell/GAE-BirdLife; J.C.Fernández Ordoñez in litt). But there has not been any other ringing since then. Neither that bird showed again. Pattern of occurrences match natural vagrancy.No Lesser Flamingos were noted during a visit to the colony of P.roseus at Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 20.3 (R.Gutiérrez) neither there had been recent reports (Carles Domingo pers.com.)

(1) Cádiz A bird was seen at La Hoya, near Tarifa on 6.3 (Juan Ramírez). Initially seen on 15.2, there have been three observations until 6.3 (communicated by David Cuenca).

Greater Spotted Eagle* Aquila clanga (1)
(1) Alicante The 1w seen in fields near P.N. El Hondo, Alicante last month remained in the area at least until 5.3, when last seen (Graham Critchell)

Sociable Plover* Vanellus gregarius (1)
(1) Soria An adult bird was found at Alconaba, Sória by non birding observers presumably on 10.3 was finally 'discovered' by birders on 26.3 (Alfonso Rodrigo) and continued there on 29.3 (Javier Train). See a photo below and four thumbnails here

(1) Illes Balears An adult male was trapped and ringed on 29.3 at Cabrera island, Balearics (Eduardo Amengual).

Eastern Subalpine Warbler* Sylvia cantillans albistriata(1) 2ND FOR SPAIN
(1) Illes Balears An EURING 5 male was trapped and ringed on 27.3 at Cabrera island, Balearics (Jaume Bonnin, Eduardo Amengual). The 2nd for Spain. Interestingly, the 1st for Spain was trapped at Illa de l'Aire, Menorca, on 2nd April 1997 (ed.comment).

Rosy Starling* Sturnus roseus (1)
(1) Barcelona The 1w seen on 12.2 at Cal Roc, Llobregat Delta and probably overwintering there was relocated on 22-23.3 at the same place (Ferran López). See a photo below (F.López).Seen again on 29.3 (F.López, P.Bescós, A.Baker, M.O'Neill).

Pied Crow* Corvus albus (1)
(1) Pontevedra The bird present since 4.7.2006 at A Laxe de Rons area, O Grove/Ogrobe, Pontevedra, Galicia was still around on 11.3 (Cosme Damián Romai)and 12.3 (C.D.Romai).On 25.3 it was seen in company of a Carrion Crow C.corone that was building a nest (Cosme D.Romai). Interbreeding cannot be discarded (C.D.Romai).

Bittern* Botaurus stellaris (1)
(1) Tenerife An individual caught exhausted at El Fraile, Arona, Tenerife on 15.3 (Centro de Recuperación de Fauna La Tahonilla del Cabildo de Tenerife). It is in process of full recovery before it's released again into the wild. These days there is some migrant movement in NE Iberia as well (Ed. comment).
