(2) Zamora The bird found at lagunas de Barillos, Villafáfila lagoons, Zamora on 26.11.2006 was still in the area on 10.2.2007 (Héctor García, J.Cañadas, K.de Dios, O.Gutiérrez, C.Urruela, J.Ardaiz, L.Goñi, J.Robres, Javier sp. (2) A Coruña At laguna de As Xarfas, Louro, Muros there was a 1w bird on 26.2 (Cosme Damián Romai).

Bean Goose* Anser fabalis (1,2,3-4,5,6)
(1) Zamora An adult fabalis was seen at Villafáfila, Zamora, on 3.2, close to the village (Jose Pedro Portillo, Javier Portillo;Ángel González Mendoza))
(2) Palencia On 4.2 there was one at Laguna de la Nava, Palencia (Antonio Ceballos)
(3-4) Badajoz On 1.2 evening, two apparently ssp. fabalis, an adult and a 1w were seen feeding amongst Greylag Geese and Common Cranes in rice fields near Dehesa de Mohada Alta visitors center, Navalvillar de Pela, Badajoz (John L.Muddeman)
(5) Ciudad Real One was seen at Laguna de la Veguilla, Alcazar de SanJuan on 10.2 (Xurxo Pinheiro) and 11.2 (Gabriel Martín, Mario Rodero, José Ramón)
(6) Cantabria A bird of the nominate ssp was seen in company of four Greylag Geese A.anser at marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel, Cantabria on 19.2. After resting a while, they left the area flying at high altitude, behaving as presumed departing migrants (Alejandro García Herrera).

Egyptian Goose* Alopochen aegyptiaca (1,2)
(1) Ciudad Real Possible escape. The bird seen on 7.1.2007 at Laguna de la Vega, Alcazar de Sanjuan remained there on 10.2 (Xurxo Pinheiro et al)
(2) Girona There was a bird at Tordera river mouth, Blanes on 25.2 (Quique Carballal)

Mandarin Duck* Aix galericulata (1)
(1) Valencia A drake was seen from 27.1 to 19.2 at Barranco de Carraixet, Alboraia, Valencia (Rafa Muñoz, Daniel Domingo, Ángeles Lluch)

Green-winged Teal* Anas carolinensis (1,2-3) 
(1) Asturies The drake found on 24.11.2006 at El Cierrón, Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies, was seen on 5.2 (Adolfo Villaverde) and 14.2 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui).
(2-3) Pontevedra On 2.2 there were two at Castrelo, Cambados at the Umia 
river mouth (Samuel Paz). See two thumbnails here

Ring-necked Duck* Aythya collaris(1-2,3)
(1-2) A Coruña The overwintering pair at As Forcadas reservoir, Valdoviño, A Coruña was seen on 13.2 amongst 9 A.fuligula, 1 A.ferina and 1 A.affinis (Cosme D. Romai Cousido). They were near Vilaboa, close to the reservoir end.
(3) A Coruña At laguna de As Xarfas, Louro, Muros there was a female on 26.2 (Cosme Damián Romai). This bird might be the same seen 14 km S at laguna de Xuño, Porto do Son a few days before (C.D.Romai).

Lesser Scaup* Aythya affinis (1,2,3,4)
(1) A Coruña A male was seen on 13.2 amongst 13 A.marila at Fervenza reservoir end, near Brandomil, Zas (David Martínez Lago, Viki Pita/forum Galiciaves).
(2) Lanzarote The female reported earlier from Salinas de Janubio, Yaiza, Lanzarote was seen again on 9.2 (Francisco Javier García Vargas, Juan Sagardía Pradera) and on 20.2 (Juan Sagardía). See a photo below

(3) León One of the three birds found on 18.11.2006 at Embalse de Selga de Ordás, León, a female, was seen again on 4.2.2007 (David Miguélez, Miguel Juan)
(4) A Coruña A drake (also seen last month) was seen again at As Forcadas reservoir, Valdoviño, A Coruña on 13.2 (Cosme D. Romai Cousido).

Pied-billed Grebe* Podilymbus podiceps(1)
(1) Asturies The bird that reached Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies, on 27.12.2006 and continued there into the new year was last seen (so far) on 5.2 (Adolfo Villaverde).Still in the area on 11.2 (A.Vilalverde, J.Zaldívar, G.Ocio) and 14.2 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui), 24-25.2 (Óscar Llama, José Antonio López, Carlos Sánchez) and 26.2 (Jukka Rokkanen)

Presumed Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret* Egretta gularis x garzetta (1-3,4)
(1-3) Valencia Three birds are now present around L'Albufera de Valencia. Two of them coming from november 2006 at Tremolar area (one pale, photo below, another darker, see below) and another at Sueca ricefields, rather similar to one of the Tremolar-Alfafar area (thumbnail here), all seen on 8.2 (Bosco Dies). One, the darker individual, remained at marjal d'Alfafar, L'Albufera, on 11.2 (Toni Alcocer, Isabel Bischoping). See two photos below.

(4) Tarragona The usual bird from 'La Tancada area' has moved somewhat west of the saltpans and was located on 5.2 close tot La Tancada campsite (Frederik Naedts, Maarten Jacobs).

Bald Ibis* Geronticus eremita (1-9)
(1) Cádiz Nine birds, at least two without radio-transmitters (despite probably all of them coming from the reintroduction scheme) were seen at Tarifa, Cádiz on 24.2 (Todor Todorov).

Lesser Flamingo* Phoenicopterus minor (1-2)
(1-2) Cuenca At Laguna de Manjavacas, Cuenca, there were 2 individuals on 10.2 (Xurxo Pinheiro).One had been reported before at laguna de la Veguilla and Villacañas (see December report)

Ring-tailed Harrier (c.f. Pallid x Hen Harrier) or Pallid Harrier * Circus c.f. macrourus x cyaneus or C.macrourus (1)
(1) Zamora The bird seen and photographed on 27-28.1 at Villafáfila, Zamora remained there on 3.2 (Ángel González Mendoza). New evidence based on the authors comments on jizz plus photos showing mixed characters may suggest an hybrid origin involving macrourus but also cyaneus (Daniel López Velasco in litt.). There are more photos showing both wider wings and heavy body than average macrourus but still rather macrourus-like head pattern here (opens in another window).If the hybrid origin would be confirmed as such it would be an even more interesting case. A full description to the Rarities Committee would be highly welcome (Ed.comment).

Greater Spotted Eagle* Aquila clanga(1)
(1) Alicante A 1w was seen in fields near P.N. El Hondo, Alicante on 1.2 (Jacobo Ramos). On 2.2 it was seen again (Clemente Álvarez Usategui; Luis Fidel,
A.Jacobo Ramos). See two photos below. Seen again on 5.2 at El Hondo area (Graham Critchell). Seen again on 10.2 over the 'palmeral' on the north side of 'El Hondo' reserve (Richard Howard) and on 25.2 (Julian Sykes, Richard Palmer, Malcolm Palmer)

Greater/Lesser Spotted Eagle* Aquila clanga/pomarina(1)
(1) Huelva On 1.2 there was an undetermined large eagle adult at El Rocio, Huelva (Manolo Romero, Mario Martín, Ricardo Martín-Baylo, Paco Chiclana).

Wilson's Phalarope* Phalaropus tricolor(1)
(1) Cádiz  A bird was found on 21.2 at Salina de la Tapa, PN Bahia de Cádiz, El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz (Rafael García Costales). It was mixed with a flock of BW Stilts H.himantopus and Avocets R.avosetta.  See a photo below and thumbnails here

Laughing Gull* Larus atricilla (1)
(1) Girona The adult found at Blanes harbour, Girona, on 8.1 remained in the same harbour area on 7.2 (Pedro Bescós) and 8.2 (Frederik Naedts, Maarten Jacobs).

Bonaparte's Gull* Larus philadelphia(1)
(1) Asturies The adult bird found in late january was seen again on 2.2 (F.Javier

Baltic Gull* Larus fuscus fuscus (1)
(1) Málaga A bird PVC ringed 'C1KV' was seen at Málaga harbour, 36,42N 4,25W on 27.1 and 6.2 (Salvador Garcia). This adult was ringed in 1999 as an adult at Tampere dump, Finland (62,32N, 23,6E) and it had been controlled at least 200 times since then but never out of Finland.

Caspian Gull* Larus cachinanns(1,2-4,5)
(1) Girona On 5.2 one 3rd winter was reported at Blanes harbour, Girona (Frederik Naedts, Maarten Jacobs).
(2-4) Girona On 11.2 there were a 2nd winter, a 1st winter and the bird reported on 13.1 at Solius dump, Girona,a more doubtful bird (Albert Cama, Carlos Álvarez, Matxalen Pauly, Carme Rotllan; Ponç Feliu, Ponç Feliu Jr., Mercè Sánchez-Frou)See two photos below (A.Cama)

(5) Barcelona  On 6.2 a 2w was found at Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona (Carles Carboneras). See photos here (opens in another window)

Iceland Gull* Larus glaucoides (1,2-3,4)
(1) Pontevedra On 3.2 an adult was found at Cabo Silleiro, Baiona (José Gandara, Manolo Alonso, José Ramón Gómez). On 4.2 it was two km south, at costa de Mougas, Oia (Rafa y Tito Salvadores, César Vidal). See a photo below and a thumbnail here

(4)Bizkaia On 10.2 a 1w was present at Vega de Lamiako, Ria del Nervión, Leioa, Bizkaia (Javier Elorriaga). This bird might be the same seen in January at Santurtzi, Bizkaia (J.Elorriaga).See a thumbnail here Perhaps this same bird or another was seen on 18.2 at Igorre dump, Bizkaia (Gorka Ocio)

(1) A Coruña The 3rd winter seen in January around Lira, Carnota, A Coruña was seen again on 10.2 (Manuel A. Alonso, José A.Gándara, José Ramón Gómez).
(2) A Coruña A 1w, different from the birds seen at Fisterra on December 2006 and January 2007,  was recorded at the same fishing harbour on 10.2 (Manuel A. Alonso, José A.Gándara, José Ramón Gómez). Seen again on 26.2 (C.Damian Romai). New thumbnail here
(3) A Coruña A 1w was seen at La Concha beach, Cariño, A Coruña on 16.2 (Ricardo Hevia).Seen again on 23.2 (R.Hevia, J.M.Alonso Pumar)

(1-2) Cádiz. Two birds were seen at Bolonia, Cádiz, on 17.2 (Phil Chantler)

Citrine Wagtail* Motacilla citreola (1,2)
(1) Girona The 1w seen and photographed at close distance at El Matà area, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona, on 14.12.2006 remained in the same area on 1.2 (Sergi Sales, Albert Roca i Jordi Maretí-Aledo) and 3.2 (Miguel Rouco i Jordi Martí-Aledo). Still in the same area on 6.2 (Jordi Martí-Aledo). Still visible on 11.2 (Àlex Ollé, Pere Serrano)
(2) Cádiz On 27.2 a 1w was trapped and ringed within a White Wagtail Motacilla alba roost at Algeciras, Cádiz. Its presence was unknown in the area and it was in active moult (Pablo Ortega, Miguel González / Grupo Anillamiento Cigüeña Negra). See a photo below and a thumbnail here

(2) Tarragona A bird was seen at Muntanyans del Tarragonès, Creixell, Tarragona on 13.2 mroning (Jordi Vázquez de Luca). A description has been submitted to CR/SEO.

Rosy Starling* Sturnus roseus(1)
(1) Barcelona A 1w was seen on 12.2 at Cal Roc, Llobregat Delta (see a photo below, Ferran López). Perhaps it is the same bird initially found on 22.10.2006 close to that area at La Ricarda lagoon that may have went unnoticed all winter long (Ferran López)

Pied Crow* Corvus albus (1)
(1) Pontevedra The bird present last autumn at A Laxe de Rons area, O Grove/Ogrobe, Pontevedra, Galicia was still around on 10.2 (Cosme Damián Romai).

Hooded Crow* Corvus (corone) cornix (1)
(1) Girona The bird seen again on 27.1 at La Gallinera ricefields, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona remained at the same place on 1.2 (Teresa Montràs, Jordi Martí-Aledo). The bird moved to the nearby Riumors ricefields on 11.2 (Jordi Martí-Aledo) and 13.2 (S.Sales, J.Martí-Aledo, R.Gutiérrez, A.Broncca).
