On 4.2 there was one at Laguna de la Nava, Palencia (Antonio Ceballos)

On 1.2 evening, two apparently ssp. fabalis, an adult and a 1w were
seen feeding amongst Greylag Geese and Common Cranes in rice fields near
Dehesa de Mohada Alta visitors center, Navalvillar de Pela, Badajoz (John
L.Muddeman)

Real One was seen at Laguna de la Veguilla, Alcazar de SanJuan on 10.2
(Xurxo Pinheiro) and 11.2 (Gabriel Martín, Mario Rodero, José
Ramón)

Cantabria
A bird of the nominate ssp was seen in company of four Greylag Geese A.anser
at marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel, Cantabria on 19.2. After
resting a while, they left the area flying at high altitude, behaving as
presumed departing migrants (Alejandro García Herrera).

The drake found on 24.11.2006 at El Cierrón, Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa,
Asturies, was seen on 5.2 (Adolfo Villaverde) and 14.2 (Clemente Álvarez

On 2.2 there were two at Castrelo, Cambados at the Umia
river mouth

Coruña The overwintering pair at As Forcadas reservoir, Valdoviño,
A Coruña was seen on 13.2 amongst 9 A.fuligula, 1 A.ferina
and 1 A.affinis (Cosme D. Romai Cousido).
They were near Vilaboa, close to the reservoir end.

At laguna de As Xarfas, Louro, Muros there was a female on 26.2 (Cosme
Damián Romai). This bird might be the same seen 14 km S at laguna
de Xuño, Porto do Son a few days before (C.D.Romai).

Three birds are now present around L'Albufera de Valencia. Two of them
coming from november 2006 at Tremolar area (one pale, photo below, another
darker, see below) and another at Sueca ricefields, rather similar to one
of the Tremolar-Alfafar area (thumbnail here), all seen
on 8.2 (Bosco Dies). One, the darker individual, remained at marjal d'Alfafar,
L'Albufera, on 11.2 (Toni Alcocer, Isabel Bischoping). See two photos below.

The usual bird from 'La Tancada area' has moved somewhat west of the saltpans
and was located on 5.2 close tot La Tancada campsite (Frederik Naedts,
Maarten Jacobs).

of them coming from the reintroduction scheme) were seen at Tarifa, Cádiz

The bird seen and photographed on 27-28.1 at Villafáfila, Zamora
remained there on 3.2 (Ángel González Mendoza). New evidence
based on the authors comments on jizz plus photos showing mixed characters
may suggest an hybrid origin involving macrourus but also cyaneus
(Daniel López Velasco in litt.). There are more photos showing
both wider wings and heavy body than average macrourus
but still
rather macrourus-like head pattern here
(opens in another window).If the hybrid origin would be confirmed as such
it would be an even more interesting case. A full description to the Rarities
Committee would be highly welcome (Ed.comment).

A bird PVC ringed 'C1KV' was seen at Málaga harbour, 36,42N 4,25W
on 27.1 and 6.2 (Salvador Garcia). This adult was ringed in 1999 as an
adult at Tampere dump, Finland (62,32N, 23,6E) and it had been controlled
at least 200 times since then but never out of Finland.
