(1) A Coruña  A bird was found at Cecebre reservoir, A Coruña on 15.1 (Toni Alonso, Luis.J.Salaverri, Sergi Sales)
(2) A Coruña  One bird, perhaps a 1w was seen and photographed next to a Barnacle Goose Branta leucopsis at Noia on 27.1 (Cosme Damian Romai, Atocha Ramos). First seen on 19.11.2006 (Juan Cabeza) it has been observed regularly since then by several birders.There is a thumbnail at the end of the latest highlights section here.
(3) Zamora A bird was seen on 28.1 at Villafáfila, Zamora (Miguel Rouco, David Ortega, Juan Sagardía)

Snow Goose* Anser caerulescens (1)
(1) Zamora A bird was reported from lagunas de Barillos, Villafáfila lagoons, Zamora on 17.1 (Luis Mario Arce).Other authors have reported that this bird was indeed an albino Greylago Goose Anser anser.

Canada Goose* Branta canadensis (1) 
(1) Zamora The bird found at lagunas de Barillos, Villafáfila lagoons, Zamora on 26.11.2006 was still in the area on 9.1.2007 (Ricardo Hevia, José Miguel Alonso Pumar).

Red-breasted Goose* Branta ruficollis (1)
(1) Zamora The bird seen at Villafáfila lagoons, Zamora, on 23.12.2006 was still in the area on 9.1.2007 (Ricardo Hevia, José Miguel Alonso Pumar). Egyptian Goose* Alopochen aegyptiaca (1)
(1) Ciudad Real Possible escape. A bird was seen on 7.1.2007 at Laguna de la Vega, Alcazar de Sanjuan. It was seen in company of Shelducks Tadorna tadorna but it was ringed in its right leg (Mario Arcas Martín). See a thumbnail here.

Mandarin Duck* Aix galericulata (1-4)
(1-4) Girona Four birds, 3 males and a female, behaving wild, were located at Ter river, at Sant Pau de Segúries, el Ripollès, Girona, Catalunya, on 14.1 (Anna Folch, Ferran G.Prat). This is the first record for the Ripollès county although there are accepted records from other Pyrenean counties where the species has overwintered the last years.

(1) Asturies The drake found on 24.11.2006 at El Cierrón, Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies, was relocated again on 11.1.2007 (Adolfo Villaverde).Seen again on 12.1 (Paco Chiclana, Daniel López Velasco, Mario Martín, Manolo Romero, Ricardo Martín-Baylo).Seen again on 22.1 (Aldofo Villaverde) and 27.1 (Gorka Ocio, Oscar Gutiérrez, Leandro Arroyo, Cesar Urruela, Javi sp, Juan Zaldivar, Eva sp)

Blue-Winged Teal Anas discors (1,2)
(1) Fuerteventura A bird that had been been and photographed on 27.10.2006 at Rosa Catalina García, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria was still there on 5.1 (Michael A.Patten) and 8.1 (Juan Sagardia Pradera). (2) El Hierro A female was found on 11.1 at Embalse de Frontera (Barry Lancaster, Eduardo García del Rey).

(1) Lugo The bird arrived on 1.9.2006 to ensenada de Eseiro-Feás, Cariño, A Coruña and later seen at Ria de Foz, Lugo, was seen again on 14.1.2007 (Toni Alonso, Luis.J.Salaverri, Sergi Sales)

Fernández; Luis Mario Arce;David González Ortega, Concepción de Linares Fernández). Presumed Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret* Egretta gularis x garzetta (1-2)
(1-2) Valencia Two birds were present on 7.1.2007: one is the dark bird seen on 21.11.2006 at El Tremolar ricefields, L'Albufera Natural Park, València that had been present in the area and nearby all November 2006 month but the 2nd seems to be a new bird different from those seen in 2006 (Bosco Dies). There is a photo from November 2006 here and another, from January 2007 below (Bosco Dies).

Rüppell's Vulture* Gyps rueppellii (1)
(1) Cádiz. A bird was seen on 11.1 in company of two Black Vultures Aegypius monachus, one Lammergeier Gypaetus barbatus (well away from Pyrenees!) and a large flock of Griffon Vultures Gyps fulvus at Muladar de la Peña, close to the ornithological station of Colectivo Cigüeña Negra, Tarifa, Cádiz (Salvador Solís; communicated by Paco Montoya).

Pallid Harrier* Circus macrourus(1)
(1) Zamora A 1w bird was seen and photographed on 27-28.1 at Villafáfila, Zamora (Miguel Rouco, David González Ortega, Juan Sagardía). It was near laguna de Barillos, RN Lagunas de Villafáfila, Zamora, on 31.1 (Pedro Arratíbel y Alfonso Rodrigo). On February, the possibility of this bird being an hybrid was commented. See here.

Barbary Falcon* Falco pelegrinoides(1)
(1) Valladolid Unknown origin bird. On 28.1 an adult was well seen at Montealegre, Valladolid (Luis Frechilla, Abel Fernández) 

African Crake* Crecopsis egregia(1) FOURTH FOR SPAIN AND THE WP
(1) Gran Canaria The fourth bird for the WP and Spain reached Gran Canaria island at La Garita, Telde on 12.1. It was collected alive and brought to the recovery center where, unlike the 3 previous birds, this SURVIVED and will be released into the wild (in the island) in few days (Pascual Calabuig). As in the previous cases it reached the island coinciding with a severe storm between the Canaries and Africa involving fog and strong winds. See photos below and a thumbnail here (P.Calabuig)

Allen's Gallinule* Porphyrio alleni (1,2)
(1) Huelva The adult found at El Rocío marshes on 21.12.2006 (Luis García/PN Doñana), searched for but not relocated on 22 and 29.12.2006 and finally relocated on 4.1 (Paco Chiclana, Mario Martín). See a photo below. On 5.1. it was seen and photographed again at the same place (José Luis Arroyo, Juan Luis Barroso, Estela Gil, José Carlos González).See a photo below and three thumbnails in the right hand column here.Seen again on 13.1 at the same place (see another photo below) (Jose Antonio Sencianes, José Angel Campos, Antonio Tamayo).Still visible on 17.1 (Chris Batty, Stuart Piner) and 18.1 (Paco Chiclana). Severe doubts have arisen on this bird origin: the bird showed damaged primary tips and lack of secondaries (see thumbnails here) and was very tame, eating almost from hand (J.Sagardia, P.Chiclana). Besides, another escape, Actophilornis africana was recorded at Doñana too, not far from the Allen's site (Pablo Fernández). The bird was showing well on 21.1 (Richard Bonser) and 22.1 (Martien Brand), see a photo below. On 24.1 it was unsuccesfully looked for. The party of 8 visiting birders were told by a local that on 23.1 the bird had been picked up by a man coming with a van with a logo of a bambino. (?¿) (communicated by Paco Chiclana).

(2) Tenerife A 1w reached El Médano, S Tenerife on 19.1. It was collected by the police inside a supermarket (!) and was given to the recovery center (Centro de Recuperación de Fauna dLa Tahonilla /Cabildo de Tenerife) members on 22.1 (Cármen Méndez, Juan Hernández-Abad) when it was already died!. The corpse showed an impact in its head. It is unknown if it died caused by the crash, a fact that seems at least possible (J.A.Lorenzo in litt. and editorial comment)
 

Sociable Lapwing* Vanellus gregarius(1)
(1) Huelva A bird in winter plumage was found within a Lapwing  V.vanellus group at El Rocío marshes, Doñana National Park on 4.1 (Luís García/PN Doñana). Seen again on 5.1 (José Luis Arroyo, Juan Luis Barroso, Estela Gil, José Carlos González).See a photo below and a thumbnail here.Still visible on 7.1 (Manolo Villaécija) and 8.1 (Paco Chiclana). Not seen afterwards.

Laughing Gull* Larus atricilla (1,2,3,4)
(1) Bizkaia A subadult bird was reported at Elantxobe harbour,Bizkaia, then leaving to the W to Cape Ogoño, on 3.1 (Gorka Ocio)
(2) Girona An adult ringed bird in the right tibia, different from (3) but possibly one lingering individual having been seen elsewhere in Europe (and perhaps in this same place in years 1998, 1999 and 2000) was found at Blanes harbour, Girona, on 8.1 (Xavier Larruy, Xesco Macià). See a photo below (X.Larruy) and a thumbnail here.This bird is probably the same that had overwintered here seven years ago and that in the meantime had been ringed in Germany and, later overwintered for two consecutive years in Italy. Finally, on 30.10.2006 it was in Switzerland (2nd for the country) on its way to the Mediterranean, back to Blanes again!. The story of this bird is at EBN Italia here. The bird was seen again on 9.1 (Arnau Bonan), 10.1 (Àlex Ollé, Sergi Sales, Jordi Martí-Aledo; Aleix Comas)Seen again on 17.1 (Ricard Gutiérrez, A.Broncca),19.1 (A.García, J.Mendoza) and 20.1 (Ferran López).See a photo below. (3) Valencia The PVC ringed bird 272 remained at L'Albufera in the first week of the year and it was seen again on 7.1, now with moulted primaries (Bosco Dies). See a thumbnail here
(4) Cádiz On 5.1 a subadult/2nd winter was seen in the fishharbour in Sanlucar de Barrameda, Cádiz (Martin Gottschling)
 

Bonaparte's Gull* Larus philadelphia(1,2)
(1) Pontevedra On 16.1, an adult was seen at Miño river mouth, A Guarda, Pontevedra (José Ramón Gómez, Ana Isabel Pérez). This bird is believed to be the same seen at Moledo beach, Portugal, just 3-4 km from A Guarda, on 3-4.1.2007 (C.C.Moore) and maybe the same overwintering in this area the last two winters (J.R.Gómez).
(2) Asturies On 30.1 an adult bird was seen at Parque Isabel la Católica, Gijón, Asturies (Isolino Pérez) and seen again on 31.1 (Daniel López Velasco)

(1) Girona On 13.1 one 1w was seen at Solius dump, Girona (Carlos Álvarez Cros).See two thumbnails here
(2) Barcelona On 16.1 a 1w was found at Vilanova i la Geltrú harbour, Barcelona (Marc Olivé, Carles Carboneras).See two thumbnails here
(3) A Coruña On 28.1, a 2nd w with green plastic ring 8P03 was located at Lires, Cee, A Coruña (Carmen Mouzo, Xabier Varela). This individual had been seen also on 10.3 at Arteixo, A Coruña and it's a Polish bird.
(4) Madrid A 2nd winter bird was reported on 28.1 at Pinto rubbish tip, Madrid (Juan M. Ruiz). On 29.1 it was seen and photographed again (Eugenio Castillejos,Javier Marchamalo). See a photo below (E.Castillejos)

(5) Asturies On 31.1 one adult was seen at Gijón harbour (Daniel López Velasco)

(1) Bizkaia A 1w was present on 13.1 at El Abra interior harbour, Bilbao (Delfín González).It remained at Santurtzi harbour on 20.1 (Gorka Ocio).
(2) A Coruña A bird was seen at A Concha beach, Cariño, A Coruña on 21.1 (Ricardo Hevia). See a thumbnail here
(3-4) A Coruña Two 1w were at Lires, A Coruña, on 19.1 (Sergi Sales, Toni Alonso).The birds had been seen previously by J.R.Gómez some time ago and were seen again on 21.1 (Samuel Paz). Seen again on 27.1 near Castro river mouth (Cosme Damian Romai, Atocha Ramos). One to three birds had been seen in this place since 26.11.2006 (Xabier Varela, José R.Gómez, Ana I.Pérez and others).One bird was still there on 28.1 (Carmen Mouzo, Xabier Varela)

(2) A Coruña The bird seen initially on 7.12.2006 at Fisterra, A Coruña, remained at Langosteira beach of that town one month after, on 7.1.2007 (José Ramón Gómez, Ana Isabel Pérez).Seen again on 19.1 (Sergi Sales, T.Alonso).On 23.1 probably this same 3rd winter, according to plumage characteristics and absence of the bird at Fisterra, was at Nemiña beach, Lires (Samuel Paz).

(4) Asturies A 3rd winter was seen and photographed at Playa de la Cueva, Valdés, Asturies on 15.1 (Jesús Landeira, communicated by Pablo Fernández).

(1-6) Cádiz. Six birds were seen flying in Cadiz beaches, near Guadalquivir river mouth on 1.1 (Paco Chiclana). See a thumbnail here

(1) Fuerteventura A bird was heard on 4.1.2007 and later seen on 7.1 at Jandía, Fuerteventura (Adrian Long, communicated by Tony Clarke)

(1) Girona The 1w seen and photographed at close distance at El Matà area, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona, on 14.12.2006 was relocated at the same place on 11.1.2007 (Teresa Montràs, Jordi Martí-Aledo)and on 18.1 (Jordi Martí-Aledo, R.Gutiérrez, A.Broncca). Garden Bulbul* Pycnonotus barbatus (1)
(1) MálagaA bird was seen the week of 15-18.1 at Club Miraflores, Fuengirola (Gary Jasper). It was seen again on 19.1 (Steve Penn, Andy Paterson) and 21.1 (A.Paterson, Steve Penn, Gary Jasper) when photographed (see below). Apparently the bird is from wild origin and there is no reason to believe the contrary (pers.comm. from the author).A third for mainland Spain if accepted wild (the 1st, a bird seen on 13,14 and 16.11.1956 on the road Málaga-Torremolinos!). Seen again on 31.1 (Andy Paterson)

(1) Pontevedra The bird present last autumn was present at A Laxe de Rons area, O Grove/Ogrobe, Pontevedra, Galicia (Cosme Damián Romai).The bird remained in the same area on 20.1, now at Porto dos Padroneses near A Laxe de Rons (Cosme Damiñan Romai)

Hooded Crow* Corvus (corone) cornix (1)
(1) Girona The bird found on 19-20.11 near Sobrestany, Girona, was presumably the same seen again on 27.1 further north, at La Gallinera ricefields, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Daniel Roca, Toni Alonso) and on 28.1 (Àlex Ollé i Jordi Martí-Aledo).
