A bird was found on 7.11 at Embalse de la Granda, Asturies (César
A. Laó) and it was probably there since 5.11 (Jesús Escourido)
and it may even be the same bird reported in the area a month ago. See

Becerra, Jesús Soberón) and seen again on 12.11 (José
Ardaiz et al)and on 22.11 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui).

On 21.11 two birds showing hybrid characters were found at El Tremolar
ricefields, L'Albufera Natural Park, València (Bosco Dies). The
darkest bird had been present in the area and nearby all November 2006

Tancada lagoon, Ebre delta, Tarragona was seen again close to Tancada saltpans
on 25.11 (Cristian Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours) but not on 26.11 (Ricard

An adult was found amongst 8500+ flamingos Phoenicopterus roseus
at Punta de la Banya reserve, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (R.Gutiérrez,
A.Broncca). The bird had not been detected the previous week during the
flamingo count (Ferran Blanch/PN Delta de l'Ebre pers.com.) so it may well
be a newcomer, after a period of lacking of observations after the presence

José Miguel Ramírez, warden of the reserve, commented to
Antonio Tamayo (in litt.) that there had been up to seven birds

CORNCRAKE*
Crecopsis egregia (1,2) 2ND-3RD FOR SPAIN and the
WESTERN PALEARCTIC

A bird was found exhausted by local workers at Radazul harbour, El Rosario,
Tenerife, on 15.11.2006. It was brought into the Recovery Center of Cabildo
de Tenerife but died shortly after. Its corpse was kept for further study
(communicated by J.A.Lorenzo).

On 16.11, another bird was also found exhausted at Military Museum gardens
of Almeida, Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Antonio Hernández). close to
the area where a bird was found on 23.11.2001 (the 1st for the WP). The
bird was also brought to the same recovery center but died too (communicated
by J.A.Lorenzo).

A 1st calendar-year bird was found in bad condition on 9.11 at Cecebre
reservoir, Crences, Abegondo, A Coruña (Amadeo Pombo, Mariana Roura;
