(2) Asturies A bird was found on 7.11 at Embalse de la Granda, Asturies (César A. Laó) and it was probably there since 5.11 (Jesús Escourido) and it may even be the same bird reported in the area a month ago. See a thumbnail here.It was relocated on 9.11 (Manuel Quintana Becerra, Jesús Soberón) and seen again on 12.11 (José Ardaiz et al)and on 22.11 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui).

(2) Palencia At laguna de la Nava, Palencia, there was one on 19.11 (Luis José Salaverri) and 20.11 (Delfín González). It is not clear if it might be bird (1).

(1) Navarra A bird that had been seen coming flying from the North, was recorded at an urban park at Pamplona city, Navarra on 30.11 (Ricardo Rodríguez)

(1) A Coruña. A bird was found on 11.11 at Cecebre reservoir, Crences, Abegondo, A Coruña (Daniel López Velasco).This drake wa seen also by another party of observers the same day (David Calleja, José Otero, Antonio F.Marín, Luz Fernández, Ricardo Hevia).
(2) Asturies On 24.11 a 1w drake was found at El Cierrón, Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies (Daniel López Velasco; C.A.Usategui, E.García-Sánchez, P.J.Menéndez, Adolfo Villaverde,Xuan Cortés, Jaime Galguera, Jukka sp.)See a thumbnail here.

Blue-Winged Teal Anas discors (1)
(1) Fuerteventura A bird that had been een and photographed on 27.10 at Rosa Catalina García, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria was later relocated on 3.11 (Juan Sagardia) The bird was in company of a Ring-necked duck. See a photo below and thumbnails here

(1) Lugo The bird arrived on 1.9 to ensenada de Eseiro-Feás, Cariño, A Coruña and later seen at Ria de Foz, Lugo, was seen again on 11.11 (C.Álvarez Usategui Manuel A.Fernández, José Guerra, Pablo Guerra, Daniel López Velasco).The Foz bird remained at the same area on 22.11 (M.Quintana Becerra, C.Ovín Ania).

Ring-necked Duck* Aythya collaris(1,2,3-7,8-10)
(1) Fuerteventura A drake seen and photographed on 25-27.10 at Rosa Catalina García, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria was still there on 3.11 (Juan Sagardia). See a photo under the Blue-Winged Teal account here.

(3-7) A Coruña Five birds (and adult drake, a 1w male and three females) were seen at Forcadas reservoir, Valdoviño on 5.11 (M.Filgueiras, C.Varela, A.Fernández) and 12.11 (Cosme D.Romai). (8-10) León At Embalse de Selga de Ordás, a drake and two females were located on 18.11 (Carlos Zumalacárregui, David Miguélez, Héctor Astiárraga). See two thumbnails here (D.Miguélez)
(11) Lugo On 23.11, a male was found at Laguna de Cospeito, Lugo (Gustavo Martínez Lamas, David Calleja Marcos). The bird had been found on 21.11 (José Otero, Eva Villares).

(1) A Coruña A 1w drake or ending the eclipse period was found within a 70 Pochard Aythya ferina and 6 Tufted Duck Aythya fuligula flock at Fervenza reservoir, Mazaricos-Zas-Dumbría, A Coruña (Xabier Varela)

(1) Valencia A bird was seen the morning of 12.11 at El Pontón irrigation pond, Requena, Valencia. There are photos in this blog (opens in another page)

Presumed Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret* Egretta gularis x garzetta (1-2,3)
(1-2) Valencia On 21.11 two birds showing hybrid characters were found at El Tremolar ricefields, L'Albufera Natural Park, València (Bosco Dies). The darkest bird had been present in the area and nearby all November 2006 month but the palest bird had arrived on 21.11. (3) Tarragona The bird around Tancada lagoon, Ebre delta, Tarragona was seen again close to Tancada saltpans on 25.11 (Cristian Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours) but not on 26.11 (Ricard Gutiérrez)

Lesser Flamingo* Phoenicopterus minor (1,2)
(1) Tarragona An adult was found amongst 8500+ flamingos Phoenicopterus roseus at Punta de la Banya reserve, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (R.Gutiérrez, A.Broncca). The bird had not been detected the previous week during the flamingo count (Ferran Blanch/PN Delta de l'Ebre pers.com.) so it may well be a newcomer, after a period of lacking of observations after the presence of up to three birds early this year. (2) Málaga A bird was seen at Fuentedepiedra lagoon, Málaga, on 11.11 (Paco Ríos, Javier Fregenal, África Lupión, Andrés Serrano, Losé Manuel Moreno, Antonio Tamayo et al /SEO-Málaga). José Miguel Ramírez, warden of the reserve, commented to Antonio Tamayo (in litt.) that there had been up to seven birds last spring in the lagoon.Still there on 24.11 (Antonio Tamayo)

(1) Illes Balears: Mallorca A bird joined the Cattle Egret B.ibis roost at Prat de Sant Jordi, Mallorca the afternoon of 30.11 (Lalo Ventoso)

Pallid Harrier * Circus macrourus(1)
(1) Castelló A bird was seen and photographed at Marjal de Xilxes, Castelló on 27.11 (Josep Bort). This is the 3rd winter in a row in which the species overwinters there.

AFRICAN CORNCRAKE* Crecopsis egregia (1,2) 2ND-3RD FOR SPAIN and the WESTERN PALEARCTIC

(1) Tenerife A bird was found exhausted by local workers at Radazul harbour, El Rosario, Tenerife, on 15.11.2006. It was brought into the Recovery Center of Cabildo de Tenerife but died shortly after. Its corpse was kept for further study (communicated by J.A.Lorenzo).
(2) Tenerife On 16.11, another bird was also found exhausted at Military Museum gardens of Almeida, Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Antonio Hernández). close to the area where a bird was found on 23.11.2001 (the 1st for the WP). The bird was also brought to the same recovery center but died too (communicated by J.A.Lorenzo).

Pacific Golden Plover * Pluvialis fulva (1)
(1) A Coruña. A 1st calendar-year bird was found in bad condition on 9.11 at Cecebre reservoir, Crences, Abegondo, A Coruña (Amadeo Pombo, Mariana Roura; César Vidal, José Miguel Alonso, Luis José Salaverri, C.D.Romai). (2) Lleida A bird was seen on 11.11 at Fondo de Llitera ricefields, between Lleida and Huesca province limits (Carles Grande)

Laughing Gull* Larus atricilla (1,2)
(1) A Coruña At Ria do Burgo, A Coruña, the 2nd winter found on 25.10 was seen again on 11.11 (C.Álvarez Usategui Manuel A.Fernández, José Guerra, Pablo Guerra, Daniel López Velasco, Amadeo Pombo, Pablo Pita;David Calleja, José Otero). (2) Valencia The bird released into the wild with PVC ring '272' on 19.9 at Albufera de Valencia (see September news for the full story) and then seen during october, was relocated on 24.11 at the same place where initially seen: Gola del Pujol, Albuera de València (Bosco Dies, J.L.Terrasa). (1) Valencia Third sighting this year at Albufera de Valencia, after the second bird from 30.10 to 1.11., a third bird was ringed on 6.11 at was still around on 9.11 and 22.11 at the same place (J.I.Dies, J.L.Terrasa, M.Chardí, A.Valentín, I.Bischoping, A.Alcocer; B.Dies).It is really not known if the three sightings refer to different or the same individual.See a photo below (J.I.Dies)

(1) Asturies On 18.11, a bird was found in coastal meadows of Tapia de Casariego, Asturies where it remained at least until the following day within a flock of 30-40 Carrion Crows C.corone corone (Pablo Fernández).
