(3-4) The two adults with the 8 chicks recorded at a pond in Vallés county, Barcelona last month, were seen again on 13.5, with the chicks already growing in comparison with last April (Cecilia Antolín, Joan Buixareu). See a photo below

(1) A drake Mandarin Duck was seen paired to a female Mallard at Pantano del Ebro, Reinosa, Cantabria, on 17.5 (Maria Mar)

Blue-winged Teal* Anas discors (1)

(1) A female, possibly the same seen at La Mancha lagoons, around Alcázar de San Juan from February?, was seen on 7.5 at Laguna del Longar, Lillo, Toledo (Carlos Torralvo, José A.Toribio).Seen at laguna de la Veguilla, Alcazar de San Juan, Ciudad Real, on 18.5 (Pedro Bustamante)

(1) The bird present for the last years at Tancada lagoon, Ebre delta, Tarragona, was seen again on 7.5 (Ignacio López) and on 26.5 (A.Gallofré, N.Marsh, I.H.Sørensen, C.Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours)

Lesser Flamingo* Phoenicopterus minor (1,2-4)
(1) An adult in full breeding plumage was found on 5.5 at laguna del, Camino de Villafranca, de Alcazar de San Juan, Ciudad Real, close to the Gull-billed Tern (Sterna nilotica) colony (Tom Gullick, Ian Gamble). This bird was relocated on 7.5 (Gabriel Martín, Oscar Llama, Carlos Andrés, Jesús Calle Vaquero, Roberto de la Peña, Leandro Meléndez, Carlos Sánchez). (1) On 5.5 a British birder saw an adult male at S'Albufera de Mallorca, Balearic Islands (communicated by Maties Rebassa).

White-rumped Sandpiper* Calidris fuscicollis (1)
(1) The 2nd for Ebre delta and Catalonia, a 1w, was seen on 28.5 evening at Serrallo ricefields, Ebre delta, Tarragona (David Bigas). See two photos below (David Bigas). Still on 29.5 (D.Bigas, C.Jensen, S.Sales).

(1) On 28.5 one was found at Zeluán, Avilés (Daniel López Velasco; C.A.Usategui, M.A.Fernández, J.Guerra, P.Menéndez, J.L.Salaverri, N.Vega, J.A.Fernández, J.Valella, M.A.Pastur, A.Vigil, P.Rovés, M.Quintana, M.Pajuelo). It was only the 2nd for the whole Cantabrican N Spain coast.See a photo below (D.López Velasco) Seen again on 29.5 (P.Fernández) and 30.5 (Cesar M.Álvarez)

(1)On 12.5 a bird was seen in summer plumage at Salinas de Bonanza, Cádiz, perhaps the same seen on 28.4  (Rafael Romero)

(1) The 1w first seen on 16.3 at ría do Burgo, A Coruña, was seen again, now presumably being a 1st summer, on 18.5 (Delfín González).

Iceland Gull* Larus glaucoides (1)
(1) A 1st summer was seen at Penarronda beach, Castropol, Tapia de Casariego, Asturies on 3.5 (Pablo Fernández).

Glaucous Gull* Larus hyperboreus (1,2)
(1)On 22.5 a 2nd summer was seen at ría de Avilés, Asturies (César A.Laó). See a thumbnail here. It is the 2rd seen in Asturies this spring.Still there on 25.5 (Pedro J.Menéndez, Daniel López Velasco).See a photo here
(2)On 23.5 a 1st summer was seen flying east at San Xuan lighthouse, near ría de Avilés (Clemente Álvarez Usategui).

(2-3) A pair was seen at Ebre delta, Tarragona on 9.5 (David Bigas). Probably one of those had been seen on 4.5 flying near Sant Carles de la Ràpita, Delta de l'Ebre, heading to l'Encanyissada lagoon area (Alan S Gilbertson)

(1) The male seen at El Matà area, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona, seen from 27.4, was last seen on 1.5 (Marcos Zárraga, Luís José Salaverri, Jordi Martí-Aledo).
(2)A male was seen at Maresma de les Filipines, Llobregat delta on 16.5 (Ferran López).Possibly the same male was seen again at the same area on 22.5 afternoon (Ricard Gutiérrez, Phil Caldicott, John Allton, Steve Cawthrey, Martin Cross).

The tern at Zolina pond, Navarra, on 8.5. The above photo, taken from original RAW image shows contrast between rump and back, thus eliminating bengalensis. The below image is burnt but shows a bulky body and paler upperparts than bengalensis. The observer recalls a large body size than sandvicensis. Only orange-billed terns sp recalling elegans might be a pitfall for this (Ricardo Rodríguez)
