Alonso). This is the 2nd largest flock in the area after the record of
11 birds at La Granda on 26.11.1987 (communicated by Clemente Álvarez
Usategui).

was relocated in flight, within a Tufted Duck flock, during the February

a 1w was seen at Abegondo reservoir, Cecebre, A Coruña (Antonio
Sandoval).It remained in the area the following day (Xabier Varela).
(2) On 28.2
a bird was found at Parque Isabel La Católica, Xixón, Asturies
(Nacho Vega, Daniel López Velasco).
Baltic
Gull*
Larus fuscus fuscus (1) 2nd
for Spain
(1) On 8.2
a 1w dark Lesser black-backed Gull was seen at Palma de Mallorca harbour,
Balearic Islands (Jordi Muntaner). It was carrying a PVC red ring 'CS91'.
This sighting was communicated to the Finnish Natural History Museum that
confirmed the bird being a 1w Baltic Gull, ring number HT-253005, ringed
as pulli (Euring 1) on 9.7.2005 at Korpilahti, Finland (61º57' N,
25º35' E) by Lasse Hakkari. Unfortunately no further details rather
than the ring code were taken in the Balearic sighting.

winter found El Abra, Santurtzi, Bilbao, Bizkaia on 5.1 was still around

Gorka Ocio, L.J.Salaverri, M.Zárraga, J.Hidalgo, I.Garcia Serna;
C.Álvarez Usategui) and 22.2, with a 2nd individual (see (4), G.Ocio)

a 1st winter was located at ría de Foz, Lugo (José Miguel
Alonso Pumar).
(3)On 18.2,
at Malpica harbour, A Coruña, there was a 2nd winter (Pablo Pita,
Bárbara Torres). The bird was not relocated on 19.2 (A.Sandoval)
(4) A 2nd
1w appeared together with the 1st one at Santurtzi harbour, Bizkaia, on
22.2. This second bird is apparently a bit smaller than the 1st (Gorka
Ocio)

again within the Spanish rarity list since 1.1.2006
(1) The bird
discovere on 2.1 at O Grove marina, Pontevedra (Galicia/Galiza) was observed
again on 1.2 and 2.2 at Peralto area, within a bushy spot which included
sobre black poplars Populus nigra close to the main road (Cosme
Damián Romai, José Ramón Gómez, José
Gándara, David sp.). The bird's forehead was stained with a pale-grey
dust (perhaps pollen) and was seen feeding on Callistemon citrinus
flowers.
