(1) The drake found on 24.11 at Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, Girona was relocated within the 5000 Teal flock on 14.12 (Jordi Martí-Aledo).Still there on 20.12 (Jordi Martí-Aledo, S.Sales, T.Montràs, A.Ollé, A.Burgas, F.López, R.Gutiérrez). Blue-winged Teal* Anas discors (1,2)
(1) The bird found on 21.10 at charca de El Fraile, Tenerife, Canary Islands remained there on 3-4.12 (Nereida Herrera, Benito González)and on 17.12 (Nereida Herrera, Benito González; Simol Woolley) to 24.12 at least (M.Avelino). See a thumbnail here (S.Woolley)
(2)On 17.12 one female/1w was found at Charca de Maspalomas, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria (Miguel Avelino). See two thumbnails here

Ring-necked Duck* Aythya collaris (1)
(1)The 2nd for Catalonia found on 12.11 at Estany d'en Turies,an adult female, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà remained there on 1.12 (J.Martí-Aledo, R.Gutiérrez, A.Broncca) and on 2.12 (F.López, A.Ollé, X.Macià) and on 5.12 (Lluís Gustamante). Possibly a different female/1w,according to facial pattern was found on 23.12 at P.N.Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona too, while the 1st bird had been last seen on 5.12, despite throrough searchs and wildfowl counts (J.Martí-Aledo, T.Montràs).

A Ring-necked Duck and a Tufted Duck at Estany d'en Turies, PN Aiguamolls. When properly seen, field characters are straightforward... but in bad light conditions, while resting and at long distance things may not be so obvious. Who is who? Left bird is the vagrant. Note the upraised tail, shape of crown, and paler flanks plus slightly different shape of limit wing-flanks as well.

(1) The female found on 18.11 at Ria de A Coruña, Galicia, was seen again on 3.12 when characters of female, rather than 1w were noted (Luis Mario Arce)

(1) The hybrid gularis x garzetta from Ebre Delta was seen again near Tancada lagoon on the 17th of December. (Cristian Jensen Marcet, Iben Hove Sørensen/Audouin Birding Tours).

Sacred Ibis* Threskiornis aethiopicus (1)
(1) On 19.12, one of the Ibises that linger around the Guadalhorce river mouth, Málaga thought to be from probable captive origin, behaved strangely when it went in direct flight into the sea, towards Morocco, until it was lost in the horizon (Andy Paterson).

White-tailed Eagle* Haliaeetus albicilla (1) FIFTH FOR SPAIN
(1) After the 2004 sighting in the Rioja-Navarra area, another bird was reported in the same N Spain area: on 28.12, a 1w was found at Zudaire, Navarra (UTM x:570358, y:4736467). It was in the S slope of the Urbasa mountain range, feeding on carrion associated to Griffon Vultures (Ainara Cortés, José A.Donazar). (1) From 5-7.12, a 1w was seen and photographed near Xilxes marshes, Castelló, Comunitat Valenciana (Josep Bort). (1) On 6.12 a bird was seen soaring over Regina roman theater, between Casas de Reina and Reina, Badajoz (Juan José Ramos Encalado)
(2) On 9.12 a bird was seen at Écija-Osuna area, Sevilla (Manuel Villaécija).The same bird was seen again on 10.12 (M.Romero, M.Villaécija, J.L.Anguita, P.Chiclana)
(3)A bird was found on 11.12 at Viso del Marqués, Ciudad Real (Ángela Molina Garrido, Alfonso López López).
(4)On 22.12 a different bird from (2) was seen at Osuna area, Sevilla (P.Chiclana, M.Martín, F.del Valle). This or bird (2) was seen on 26.12 too (M.Villaécija, A.Rodriguez)
(5-6)At La Janda, Cadiz,there were two altogether on 28.12. One was larger than the other and might be a pair (Keith Bensusan, Albert Yome/GONHS)

(2) On 5.12 a 1w was found at Vilanova i la Geltrú harbour and beach of Ribes Roges, Barcelona (Carles Carboneras, Marc Olivé). Still present on 6.12 (C.Carboneras, M.Olivé, V.Pedrocchi) but not seen on 7.12 (Sergi Sales)  or afterwards. See a photo below (V.Pedrocchi)

(3)On 10.12 a 1st winter was seen at Zumaia, Gipuzkoa (Aitor Leza,Pello Izkeaga, Asier Aldalur). It is the 1st for Gipuzkoa.
(4) The 2nd winter seen last month at Gijón park and beach was relocated on 4.12 at Piles river mouth (Luis Mario Arce; Toni Nievas, Enric Farré, Steve West).

Ring-billed Gull* Larus delawarensis (1,2,3,4,5,6)
(1) A 2nd winter was seen at Lagares, Vigo. on 16.12. This bird is present in the area since february 2005 (César Vidal)
(2) A 2nd winter was found at Parque Isabel La Católica, Xixón, on 22.12 (Delfín González). See a photo below (D.González)
(3) A 1st winter was seen at San Pedro islands, near A Coruña city, Galicia on 21.12 (Xabier Varela)
(4) A bird was seen and videotaped (see the video here, opens in another window) at Serantes,Tapia de Casariego, Asturies on 29.12 (Pablo Fernández) and 30.12 (Gilberto S Jardon)
(5) An adult winter bird was seen at Cedeira, A Coruña, on 28.12 (Marcos Zárraga Bureba, L. J. Salaverri ).

Baltic Gull* Larus fuscus fuscus (1) FIRST FOR SPAIN
(1) On 3.12, an adult was seen and photographed at Port de Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca, Balearic Islands (Jordi Muntaner). It was ringed with a PVC white ring coded C8UY. It had been ringed as young, out of the nest on 30.6.2001 at Hauho, Finland (61.15 N/ 24.35E) by Risto Juvaste. The bird was seen again on 12.12 (Miguel McMinn, Ana Rodriguez). This is the first proven (through evidence not only recoveries) Baltic Gull in Spain despite there are two other recoveries of birds ringe in the fuscus area in Spain. See a thumbnail here

Iceland Gull* Larus glaucoides (1)
(1) A 1st-2nd winter was seen at A Costa da Vela, Càngas, Pontevedra on 30.12 following a fishing vessel. It is probably the same bird seen on 18.12 at Marin, Pontevedra (Josè Ramòn Gòmez)

Spotted Sandpiper * Actitis macularius (1,2)
(1)The juvenile found on 3-9.10 at ria de Ortigueira, A Coruña was still at the same area on 3.12 (Xabier Remirez) and on 5.12 (F.Roviralta, R.Hevia, J.M.Alonso Pumar). The bird has remained for over two months in the area and begins showing some spots in the vent (see a thumbnail here). Still there by 27.12 (F.López)
(2) A 2nd bird was reported from Santoña, Cantabria, on 10.12 (Javier Robres /G.O.La Rioja)

Little Swift * Apus affinis (1-4)
(1-4) On 13.12 four birds remained, like last month, at Guadalquivir river mouth, Cádiz (Paco Chiclana)

Richard's Pipit* Anthus richardi (1-4,5,6-12,13,14,15,16-17,18-22,23-24,25,26-36,37,38-40,41)
(1-4) On 5.12 there were four birds at the Tapia coastal meadows (but far from the Blyth's Pipit group) (Adolfo Villaverde)
(5) On 2.12 a bird appeared W of Salave, Tapia de Casariego (P.Fernández), see a thumbnail here. Perhaps this bird was seen also on 5.12 in this coastal meadow (Adolfo Villaverde)

(14)One of the birds at Ebro delta this winter was seen again at Tancada marshes on 12.11 (F.López, X.Macià) and only one again on 16.12 (Streve West, Chris Gibbins).But from the 8th to the 10th of December at the Tancada marshes. We counted up to 4 birds at the roosting place. (Cristian Jensen Marcet, Iben Hove Sørensen/Audouin Birding Tours, Joan Barrachina, Ulises Ornstein, Javier Cotin).
(15) A bird was found at les Borges del Camp, Tarragona on 12.12 (Joan Ferré)
(16-17) One juvenile was ringed on 9.12 at Rouxique, Sanxenxo, Complejo Intermareal Umia OGrove, Pontevedra. It was seen in company of a 2nd bird (Emilio Martínez Sabarís)
(18-22) There were five new birds in the Arnao aerodrome area, near Ria del Eo, Asturies on 11.12 (Pablo Fernández )
(23-24) On 12.12 two birds remained in the same sand dune area of Devesa del Saler, PN l'Albufera de València, València (Bosco Dies, Toni Alcocer).
(25)One was found on 23.12 at Cabu Negru, Gozón, Asturies (Clemente Álvarez Usategui). It is probably the same bird spotted in that area on 16.10 by Pedro García-Rovés.

(1-2) 2nd-3rd for the Canary Islands: on 16.12 two females were seen at Uga, Yaiza, Lanzarote island (F.J.García Vargas, J.Sagardia)
