Mute Swan Cygnus olor. There were two birds at Llobregat delta between Cal Tet area, El Prat de Llobregat and Maresma de les Filipines, Viladecans, Barcelona still by 7.5 and coming from last winter (R.Gutiérrez et al). These birds are not breeding although they show a rather agressive behaviour.

White Pelican* Pelecanus onocrotalus(1) On 17-18.5 there were 2 adults in the middle of the flamingo colony of Doñana National Park, Huelva. These two birds were holding their territory (!!) but no (further) breeding evidence was gathered (Fernando Ibáñez, Francesc Kirchner). Western Reef Egret * Egretta gularis and presumed hybrids (1,2 ,3 ,4 ) (1)The bird seen from 9.4 at Jose Antonio Valverde visitors centre, Aznalcazar, Sevilla breeding with a female Little Egret  Egretta garzetta was still there on 6.5 (Paco Chiclana)On 15.5 the gularis was seen regurgitating food and hence presence of chicks is expected but tall reed-bed prevents a clear view of the nest (Paco Chiclana)(2) On 4-5.5 there was a bird at charca de Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands (Antonio Hernández/SEO-Gran Canaria).Photopage from Miguel Avelino soon (3) The accepted hybrid present around Tancada lagoon, Ebre delta, Tarragona last year and this too was seen again on 24.4 (Ponç Feliu et al)(4) At Desembocadura del Guadalhorce there was one on 7.5 (Antonio Tamayo).This bird was at least present since 18.4 and at least until 16.5.( Andy Paterson)

Great White Egret Egretta alba.

There was one in breeding plumage at PN S'Albufera, Mallorca, Illes Balears on 15.5 (Maties Rebassa).On 20.5 a pair was seen taking off from the middle of the Purple Heron colony at S'Albufera de Mallorca, Balears so breeding is suspected in that area (Joan Llop, Matíes Rebassa). Would be the 2nd place where it breeds in Spain after the Ebre Delta, Tarragona.There was a bird at Laguna de Chozas de Arriba, León on 23-25.5 (Florentino Fernández, Antonio Fernández; Paco Canido). There was one at Pitillas lagoon, Navarra on 22.5 (D.Calleja, X.Remirez).There were 2 flying over Santes Creus beach, L'Ametlla de Mar, Tarragona on 23.5 (Pere Josa, Albert Cama).See the León bird photographed here (David Miguélez). The bird at laguna de Pitillas was still there on 27.5 (Gorka Gorospe).

Marabou* Leptoptilos crumeniferus (1) On 10.5 there was one at Écija, Sevilla. It was carrying a ring and behaved tame so it is thought to be an escape or a feral bird. See a thumbnail here (Alfonso Guisado)

Glossy Ibis Plegadis falcinellus. There were 3 at Canal Vell, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 2.5 (Julia Picazo, Silvia Asensio, Carles, Ignacio Torres).There was one at Marjal dels Moros, Sagunt,València on 15.5 (Máximo Sánchez, Toni Alcocer).Large breeding success: At Doñana National Park, 565 chicks were ringed on 17-18.5 (Fern ando Ibáñez, Francesc Kirchner).There was one at el Fondó d'Elx, Alacant on 22.5 (Pep Cantó)
 

Red-footed Falcon Falco vespertinus. On 7.5 there was a bird at Belianes, Lleida (Enric Farré).On 4.5 there was a male at the same place and on 6.5 a 1st summer at Preixana, Lleida (Gerard Bota).There was one at Coll de Sant Genís, PN Massís de L'Albera, Girona on 9.5 (Ponç Feliu).There was one adult male at Santillana reservoir, Madrid on 12.4 (Gabriel Martín García). A 1st summer female (Euring 5) was seen on 15.5 at Gallinera ricefields, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Xesco Macià, Marc Llobet, Alex Ollé).

Little Crake Porzana parva. There was a male at balsa de Arkaute, Salburua, on 7.5 (Karmelo de Dios)

Baillon's Crake Porzana pusilla. On 5.5 there was a bird at Closes de Mornau, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Luís José Salaverri, Marc Pérez).

Crested Coot Fulica cristata.  The two birds at Filipines marsh, Llobregat delta, Barcelona, were still there on 3.3 (A.Ramal).On 13.5, a pair of the group reintroduced at S'Albufera de Mallorca, Illes Balears, the birds collared '048' and '05R', have bred for the first time and produced 3 chicks (Maties Rebassa).Again at S'Albufera, the male '023' is ill and it was paired and very probably breeding so success of this 2nd breeding attempt is a mistery (Maties Rebassa). On 20.5 at Filipines marsh, Llobregat delta there were 2 crested coots which have returned after some months off the delta. Two of the birds: 'UA' and 'U6' were collared (RN Delta del Llobregat).The Llobregat delta birds were still there until the end of the month (RN Delta del Llobregat)

Marsh Sandpiper Tringa stagnatilis. On 9.5 there was one at maresma de les Filipines, Llobregat delta, Barcelona (Ferran López).
 

Temminck's Stint Calidris temminckii. On 1.4 there were two at Son Navata, Felanitx, Mallorca (Pere Vicens). The same 1.5 at Clot de la Unilla, Alguaire, Lleida there were 3 (Arnau Sebé). On 2.5 they were still there (Enric Farré).Still there on 8.5 (E.Farré/ SEO-Catalunya). There were two at Salobrar de Campos, Mallorca, on 9.5 (Maties Rebassa). However, there were nine birds at Clot de la Unilla, Alguaire, Lleida on 7.5 (Juan Bécares).There was one at Corredor Verde del Guadiamar, Aznalcázar, Sevilla on 6.5 (Paco Chiclana).At Vega de Lamiako, Leioa, Bizkaia there was a bird on 4.5 (Gorka Ocio).There were 3 at Marjal de Pego, València on 1-2.5 (Jules Sykes).On 5.5 there were 9 birds at Estanys del Matà, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (L.Salaverri, M.Pérez & J.Martí-Aledo)On 11.5 there were 3 and on 14.5 there was one at cal Roc, El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona (Xavier Larruy). On 7.5 there was a bird at lagunasd e Alcázar de San Juan, Toledo (Paul Hackett, Santiago Villa). Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima. One was seen at Salobrar de Campos, Mallorca, Illes Balears, on 23.5 (Joakim Hedvall).
 

Broad-billed Sandpiper* Limicola falcinellus(1,2 )On 1.5 there was one at Santa Pola, Alacant (A.Jacobo Ramos & A.Quiles)(2) On 23.5 there was one at laguna de San Lorenzo, Plaiaundi, Irún, Gipuzkoa (David Calleja Marcos; Gorka Ocio, Yolanda Ozaeta).See a photo below and a thumbnail here (© David Calleja Marcos). It was still there on 24.5 (D.Calleja, C.de Dios, M.A.López de Armentia).This bird is the 2nd for Gipuzkoa province, the 1st being back in 15. October 1963. Still on 25.5 (M.Etxaniz, F.Calvo, J.Belzunce, A.Luengo, G.Gorospe) and 26.5 (D.Calleja, M.A.L de Armentia, A.Leiza, O.Pérez, F.Calvo, M.Guereñu).

Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus. There was a female in breeding plumage at Veta la Palma, Sevilla on 11.5 (Alberto Plata). There was one in breeding plumage at Salinas de Bonanza, Cádiz on 20.5. White-winged Black Tern Chlidonias leucopterus. On 21.5 there were 2 at Ejea ricefields, Zaragoza (Fran Alcalá)

Red-throated Pipit Anthus cervinus There were two at laguna de la Nava, Palencia on 12.5 (Enrique Gómez Crespo)

Aquatic Warbler Acrocephalus paludicola. On 2.5 there was one at cal Tet lagoon, Llobregat delta, Barcelona (Xavier Larruy).

Icterine Warbler Hippolais icterina. On 8.5 there was one at the Erms de la Tancada, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (J.L.Copete, R.Armada, R.Servitje, M.Cebolla, J.Nethercote). On 9.5 there were up to five birds in the same area (R.Armada). On 12.5 One was ringed at Maresma de les Filipines, Llobregat delta,Viladecans, Barcelona (Joan Castelló).

Lesser Whitethroat Sylvia curruca. On 2.5 there was one at Closes de Mornau, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (M.Pérez, L.Salaverri, A.Alonso, T.Montràs, O.Clarabuch & J.Martí-Aledo)On 12.5 there was one at Txingudi, Hondarribia, Gipuzkoa (Delfín González).

Balearic Spotted Flycatcher Muscicapa striata balearica. Rare out of the Balearic Islands. A bird was trapped and ringed at Canal Vell, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 4.5 (Sergi Sales)
