Pink-footed Goose* Anser brachyrhynchus. One record(1) (1)The two birds at ria de Ortigueira, A Coruña, Galicia, present there since October 2003 were still there on 1.4 (Pablo Gutiérrez)

Barnacle Goose Branta leucopsis On 17.4 there was a bird at Llobregat river at Castellgalí, Bages, Barcelona. It is regarded as an escape after its tame behaviour but it is a free flying bird (Alex Ollé).
 

 
Ring-biled Duck* Aythya collaris (1sense numero2) There was a female at Balsa de Riego de Villamañán, Villacé, León at least from 17.1 and until 4.4 ( David Miguélez Carbajo y Daniel Miguélez Carbajo) See a thumbnail here

Ferruginous Duck Aythya nyroca. On 2.4 there was a drake at Laguna de Pitillas, Navarra (Gorka Gorospe)There was a drake at PN Aiguamolls, Girona by 10.4 but possibility of hybridisation is being assessed (Xavier Martínez).During Easter holidays there was a drake at PN Albufera de València (Gorka Gorospe, Nacho Díes)

Eider Somateria mollissima. The bird found at Ría del Eo, Asturies/Galicia on 1.2 was seen again on 5.4 near Tesón de Figueras (P.Fernández).On 18.4 the female it was still there (Jesús Rodríguez)

Goldeneye Bucephala clangula. There were two females at Azud de Riolobos, Salamanca on 4.4 (Guadalupe Martín, Guillermo Hernández,Juanjo Ramos, Jose Miguel Colorado y Angel González). See a thumbnail here

Slavonian Grebe* Podiceps auritus(1,2)There were three birds in full breeding plumage and also showing courtship behaviour at ria de Ortigueira, A Coruña, Galicia on 1.4 (Pablo Gutiérrez) (2)On 3-4.4 the bird at embalse de La Granda, Gozón, Asturies was still there now in almost complete breeding plumage (Rafael González Martínez;Jorge Valella Robledo,Clemente Alvarez Usategui)On 10.4 it was still there (Jorge Valella Robledo).

Fulmar Fulmarus glacialis.  At Cantabria there was a bird on 12.4 three miles off Noja (Gorka Ocio) close to fishing vessels without discarding fish.

 
Western Reef Egret * Egretta gularis(1) On 9.4 and at the Jose Antonio Valverde visitors centre, Aznalcazar, Sevilla.There was a bird (a male) seen nest building and then mating with a female Little Egret  Egretta garzetta in the reedbeds 70 metres west of the centre. The author believes this bird to be the "accepted" recorded bird that has been recorded regularly by him (and Others) at the area near Alfonso XIII during the last year or so. It was certainly a gularis gularis and not a hybrid. (John Butler)Still there on 30.4 (Paco Chiclana)

Great White Egret Egretta alba.There were several at Ebre delta, Tarragona, on 1.4 e.g. 1 en los campos cerca del Fangar, 4 .at el Garxal, 5 at l'Encanyissada and 4 at Gola de Migjorn (Marc Peris)One was seen along C-31 near the Remolar-Filipines reserve, at Llobregat delta, Barcelona on 11.4 (Anthony McGeehan et al). There was one at S'Albufereta d'es Grau, Menorca on 10.4 (Lluís Gustamante).There was one at Llobregat delta, Barcelona on 18.4 (Joan Gil).The bird present at Villafáfila, Zamora since september 2003 was still around on 24.4 at Revellinos, Zamora (Víctor Salvador Vilariño, Isabel Martín Rodrigo and José Alfredo Hernández). On 27.4 there was a bird at La Nava lagoon, Palencia, the 2nd bird for the area (Enrique Gómez Crespo).  There was one at Clot de la Unilla. Lleida on 20.4 (G.Bota, D.Bigas, R.Gutiérrez, A.Ramal).There was one at Les Olles, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 11.4 (Raphaël Lebrun).The species is breeding again at Ebre delta, Tarragona.

modesta - like birds. On 17.4 there was another of these birds (the 4th for Spain) at estany del Cortalet, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Jordi Martí-Aledo).

Glossy Ibis Plegadis falcinellus. There was a flock of 25-30 birds at Buda island, Ebre delta, Tarragona on 1.4 (Marc Peris). On 4.4, there were two at Marjal del Moro, Sagunt, València (Máximo Sánchez Cobo) See a thumbnail here On 11.4, there were 2 at Marjal del Moro, Valencia and two more at Marjal d'Almenara,La Plana Baixa, Castelló (Máximo Sánchez Cobo,Beatriz Gómez García). The birds from Marjal d'Almenara were there from 9-12.4 at least (David Olmos Corral). On 11.4 there were 2 at Tirant, between Fornells and Cap de Cavalleria, Menorca (Lluís Gustamante).Birds are breeding again at PN Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (D.Bigas)
 
 

 
Sacred Ibis* Threskiornis aethiopicus (1via snail mail,2 ) On 14.4 the nearly resident bird at Santoña, Cantabria was still there (Daniel Lopez Velasco, Michael Harvey,Fernando Arce). See a thumbnail here(2) The believed-to-be accepted bird seen last autumn has returned to marismas de La Ramallosa, Nigrán, Pontevedra (Íñigo Hernández)

Black Vulture Aegypius monachus. Extralimital record: on 25.4 there were 2 at Picos de Europa, N of Potes, Asturies (Hugh Harrop)
 

 
Ruppell's Griffon Vulture* Gyps rueppellii (1) On 25.4 two were seen at Los Barrios, Cádiz within a flock of c.300 Griffons. The previous week another was reported coming into Spain with a migrant party of Griffons at Punta Carnero (Manuel Lobón).

 
 
Rough-legged Buzzard* Buteo lagopus(1via snail mail) On 14.4 one was seen flying at Ablitas, Navarra (Pedro J. Menéndez, Pablo Fernández)
 
Long-legged Buzzard* Buteo rufinus(1via snail mail) 2 adults apparently of the ssp. cirtensis were seen on  7.04.2004 (11:30 GMT) at Devesa del Saler, l'Albufera de Valencia (J. Ignacio Dies, Miquel Chardí).

Red-footed Falcon Falco vespertinus. A male was seen at ZEPA Llanos de Caceres-Sierra de Fuentes, Cáceres on 9.4 (Isabel Fabregat, Chus Lorenzo, Alberto Alvarez, Joan Gil).On 24-25.4 there was a female at the road Olot-Riudaura, La Garrotxa, Girona (Marc Peris, Helena Giralt).

Corncrake Crex crex On 27.4 a school boy from Palafrugell, Girona, found an odd bird near home. Once it was brought to the school it was quickly identified as a Corncrake (Mercè Sánchez-Frou). See a photo below (M.Sánchez-Frou).

Little Crake Porzana parva. Observed frequently in the extreme NE of Catalonia this month (e.g. a thumbnail here by Xavier Martínez on 9.4 in a confidential location -for conservation purposes- ). Other records: a male was seen at José Antonio Valverde Information Center, PN Doñana, Sevilla on 19.4 (Santiago Villa). See a photo below.

Baillon's Crake Porzana pusilla. One was trapped and ringed at estany dels Roncaires, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà on 10.4 (Oriol Clarabuch, Toni Alonso i Gabriel De Jesús). This species is a rarity within Catalonia. See a stunning photo below (O.Clarabuch)

Crested Coot Fulica cristata. There were 4 uncollared birds at Laguna de La Paja, Chiclana, Cádiz on 9.4 (Modesto sp)On 11.4, there were 12 at Marjal del Moro, Valencia all wearing PVC collars (Máximo Sánchez Cobo,Beatriz Gómez García). On 2.4 four Red-knobbed Coots seen at La Calantilla visitors centre, Marismas del Odiel, Huelva.Two birds were without PVC collars but two other coots with PVC collars were seen feeding a day-old chick (John Butler).A bird of those released at Llobregat delta on 1.4.2003 returned to the Filipines marsh on 24.4.2004 after months of being out of the delta. Its code is UA (Néstor Urios; R.Gutiérrez,F.X.Santaeufemia,X.Larruy,A.Ramal).On 27.4 a second bird returned to Llobregat delta: U6 (P.Bescós, FX Santaeufemia, R.Gutiérrez, A.Ramal).There was one with PVC collar ( UT ) at l'Encanyssiada, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 11.4 (Raphaël Lebrun)
 

Dotterel Charadrius morinellus. On 18.4 at Navajo Grande lagoon, Corral de Ayllón, Segovia there were 12 birds (8 adults in breeding plumage) (Jorge Remacha, Fernando Ávila y Juan Luis Galindo Estévez)
 

 
Dowitcher sp* Limnodromus sp (1) On 14.4 one was seen at Sanlucar de Barrameda, north of Bonanza saltpans on 14.4 about 500m before the main road to the salt ponds stops,western pool (Jouko Vuokko and Matti Pajunen)

Marsh Sandpiper Tringa stagnatilis. Temminck's Stint Calidris temminckii. There were five Temminck's Stints  at Los Labrados, Aznalcazar, Sevilla on 9.4 (John Butler).There was an adult Temminck's Stint at Marjal de Pego on 25/04/04 (Jules Sykes). See two thumbnails here. On 27.4 there were 9 at PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (J.Martí-Aledo). On 25.4 (Gerard Bota) and 26.4 (Enric Farré) there were 3 at Clot de la Unilla, Alguaire, Lleida .On 24.4 there were up to 8 at Charcones de la Cigüeña at Aznalcázar, Sevilla (Daniel L Huertas).At Laguna de Pétrola, Pétrola, Albacete one was ringed on 20.4 (Ángel J. Lara Pomares/Grupo de Anillamiento Albacete).There were 4 birds on 25.4 at Corredor Verde del 
Guadiamar, Sevilla (Paco Chiclana).There were 14 on 24.4 at barranco del Poyo, PN Albufera de València, València (Bosco Díes).On 26.4 there were two more at Marjal de Pego, València (Jules Sykes). Iceland Gull* Larus glaucoides(1sense numero3) The bird seen by late March at El Musel, Xixón, a 2nd winter, was still there on 2.4 (Clemente Álvarez Usátegui).See a photo below and thumbnails here (Clemente Álvarez).On 12.4 at El Musel, dique de La Osa, Xixón there was a de 2nd calendar-year which might be different from other previous birds: 
...Hasta donde yo recuerdo de las otras que vi este año (la última, ya hace doce días), ésta se diferencia en lo siguiente:- Plumaje con mucha más cantidad de plumas marrones por todo el cuerpo. Más notorio en dorso, alas, cola y parte inferior del cuerpo. Menos en pecho, cuello y cabeza. Al menos, esa era la impresión general.- Pico con la punta TOTALMENTE NEGRA.- Ojo de COLOR TOTALMENTE OSCURO. En la distancia, parecía negro.(Ignacio Menéndez Vega). Elegant/Lesser-Crested Tern * Sterna elegans/bengalensis (1snail mail) On friday, 2.4, a Lesser Crested/Elegant Tern was found at Las Salinas del Carmen on Fuerteventura, Canary Islands (Stephan Tewinkel, Brigitte Andrew). Roseate Tern * Sterna dougallii (1snail mail) On 29.4 a moulting adult was found near the Llobregat river mouth, amongst a few hundred group of Sandwich terns, Llobregat delta, Barcelona (Xavier Larruy; Ferran López). See a photo here (Ferran López).

White-winged Black Tern Chlidonias leucopterus One was at cal Tet lagoon, Llobregat delta, Barcelona on 26.4 (Xavier Larruy). On 30.4 there was another at Golf Serres de Pals, Pals, Girona (Carles Barriocanal).

Richard's Pipit* Anthus richardi (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) (1) The bird seen at Besós river mouth, Barcelona by late march was still there on 3.4 (Xavier Larruy).2) On 9.4 there was still one at La Romanela, Vigu, Navia, Asturies (Xurde Gayol García)(3)  On 7.4 there was a bird at the Aerodrome of Arnao, Castropol, Asturies (Pablo Fernández García).Still there on 15.4  (Pablo Fernández García)(4)On 14.4 there was one at Vilaüt, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Jordi Martí Aledo i Mireia Jiménez).(5)On 14.4 one was seen at  Cabo Negro, Gozón, Asturies (Pedro García-Rovés)(6) On 03.04, two birds were observed and heard  at the central part of the istmus of A Lanzada (near the lagoons), O Grove (Ogrobe), Galicia (Galiza), being four on 04.04, five from 05 to 09.04 and six on 11.04 and 18.04. These birds are together in a group are are easy to locate but they are very untrusted; some of them were photographed (C. D. Romai Cousido, E. Martínez Sabarís, D. Puyol Santos, X. Citrine Wagtail* Motacilla citreola (1)There was a male within a flock of Yellow Wagtails at l'Embut area, l'Encanyissada, Ebre delta, Tarragona on 7.4 (Cristian Jensen i Albert Galofré)

Aquatic Warbler Acrocephalus paludicola. Three have been ringed in PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona between 3-14.4: one bird on 3.4 (Toni Alonso, Sergi Sales i Oriol Clarabuch), one on 13.4 (Oriol Clarabuch) and one on
14.4 (Oriol Clarabuch, Albert Ruhí i Josep Rost). See a photo below. This is a rarity in Catalonia and the Mediterranean coast of Iberia. There was one at Closa de la Bomba, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 21.4 (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Berto Minobis).At la Nava lagoon, Fuentes de Nava, Palencia there were three ringings on 10, 17 & 21.4 being the first three trapped there in Spring (Fernando Jubete). moltonii Subalpine Warbler* Sylvia cantillans moltonii(1) There was one at estany dels Roncaires, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 7.4 (Sergi Sales).On 30.4 one was seen at the mouth of Ricarda lagoon, Llobregat delta, Bardelona (Xavier Larruy).

 
 
tristis Chiffchaff* Phylloscopus collybita tristis (1) On 28.4 one Euring 5 bird was ringed at Canal Vell biological station, PN Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Sergi Sales, David Bigas).

 
 
 
Collared Flycatcher* Ficedula albicollis(1snail mail, 2snail mail,3,4,5,6snail mail) A 1st summer male was seen at  Jardí de l'Estació at Valencia city (Jesus District), on 19.04 (Javier Armero, Antonio Polo), and was still present on 20.04 at 06:40 GMT (Bosco Dies, Toni Alcocer, José Ruiz) and at 14:15 GMT (J. African Chaffinch * Fringilla coelebs africana(1) A Chaffinch of the African subspecies (F. c. africana) was ringed in Gibraltar on Apr 9th (contributed by Ernest FJ Garcia). Indigo Bunting* Passerina cyanea (1) First for Iberia .A first summer male Indigo Bunting was ringed in Gibraltar on 26.4. It was lacking its tail. Photos soon (© Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society)

 
 
Pine Bunting * Emberiza leucocephalos(1) There was one claim of a singing male at Mallorca, south of S'Albufera near the road of Can Picafort-Muro on 26.4 (A.Torkler, T.Erikson, W.Barker, M.Bruns et al). Could become if submitted and accepted a fourth for Spain.
