Slavonian Grebe* Podiceps auritus. (1by snail mail,2,3) On 9.11 there were 2 at ria de Ortigueira, A Coruña, Galicia (Antonio Gutiérrez, Pablo Pita, Pablo Gutiérrez)(2) There was one at Montehano canal, Santoña NR, Cantabria on 15.11 (Alejandro García Herrera, Álvaro Bustamante, Virginia Iturriaga). But two on 20.11 (Juan Manuel Pérez de Ana, José Manuel Mairal). There were eight at canales de Ano y San Jorge on 24.11 at Santoña, Cantabria (Juán Gómez Navedo, J.J.Fernández Aransay, María Díaz y José A. Gómez)At Santoña two of the eight were seen on 28.11 (Fernando Arce, I.Garcia, A.Bustamante).

Balearic Shearwater Puffinus mauretanicus. There were 430 ind. off Gola de Pal, PN Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 14.11 (David Bigas).There were 2 off Santoña, Cantabria on 18.11 (Álvaro Bustamante).There were 4 off Tarragona on 20.11 (F.López., R.Gutiérrez).'Many' were reported on 22.11 off Marismas del Odiel, Huelva (Manolo Villaécija, José Manuel Reyes). There were 185 off Tarragona harbour on 21.11 with 15 yelkouan too (Albert Cama, Philipp Garcia). There were 70 off Cap de Creus with 32 yelkouan on 21.11 (Ponç Feliu). On 23.11, between 16h - 16h45, there were 103 Balearic Shearwater in front of the beach of Torredembarra, Tarragona (Raphaël Lebrun & Eva Andreu).There were 70 mauretanicus with a bunch of  yelkouans at Roses bay, Girona on 28.11 (T.Montràs i Jordi Martí Aledo).  On 30.11 there were 680 off Tarragona harbour (Albert Cama)

Great White Egret Egretta alba. On 1.11 there was one at S'Albufera de Mallorca, Balearic Islands (Ricard Gutiérrez, Helena Arbonés, Ariadna Gutiérrez, Gerard Gutiérrez).)There was one at Filipines marsh, Llobregat delta, Barcelona on 3.11 (Pedro Bescós).There were 2 at Desembocadura del Guadalhorce, Málaga on 2.11 (Antonio Tamayo).On 7.11 there were 3 at Filipines marsh, Llobregat delta one of whose presumably was of the so called modesta subspecies(see this AERC webpage for further details) in adult breeding (black bill, reddish legs but no aigrettes) plumage (Ricard Gutiérrez; Juan Bescós). Western Reef Egret* Egretta gularis gularis and hybrids . (1,2 ) On 6.11 there was one at Isla Menor, Sevilla near the old ferry to Villafranco (John Muddeman). See a thumbnail here (2) On 7.11 the  hybrid from rio Grande, Cartama y Pizarra, Málaga, was seen again. It had been reported already in july 2003 (Antonio Tamayo, J.J.Jiménez, A.Vásquez, J.Antonio).

Glossy Ibis Plegadis falcinellus. There were 650 at Brazo del Este, Sevilla on 9.11 (Rafael Romero, José Manuel Reyes).On 12.11 there were 800 between Isla Menor and Brazo del Este, Sevilla. Sacred Ibis* Threskiornis aethiopicus. Tworecords.(1,2,3 )  The adult at Sevilla ricefields, near Guadalquivir river on 19.10 was still there on 1.11 (D.L.Huertas, J.M Reyes, M Villaécija, J Salcedo).Still there on 9.11 (Rafa Romero, José Manuel Reyes)and 12.11 (Daniel L Huertas). Mute Swan Cygnus olor. A bird was seen flying over Inca bridge, Mallorca, Balearic Islands on 3.11 (Lalo Ventoso).On 5.11 one was seen at laguna de Soto Manzaneque, Madrid (Gabriel Martín García).There were 7 at PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 11.11 (local population coming from former reintroduction scheme) (Jordi Martí-Aledo et al)On 13.11 there was a juvenile at Muskildigorri pond, Auza, Ultzama valley, Navarra (Gorka Gorospe).Another adult appeared at Llobregat river, El Prat de Llobregat, on 15.11 (F.X.Santaeufemia) while the resident bird was at cal Tet lagoon on 18.11 (H.Garrido, J.Pérez de Ayala, F.López, R.Gutiérrez, F.X.Santaeufemia, A.Ramal et al).This bird moved to Remolar lagoon from 25.11 on (P.Bescós; F.X.Santaeufemia, R.Gutiérrez) and back to cal Tet on 28.11 (R.Gutiérrez, F.X.Santaeufemia, N.Urios, A.Ramal et al). On 23.11 a bird was ilegally shot and killed by a 'hunter' (who was given a penalty) at soto del Ebro at San Vicente de La Sonsierra, La Rioja. Post-mortem analysis showed a good body condition and the animal without any captivity origin trace, besides, the stomach plenty of aquatic vegetation (Ignacio Gámez/Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Silvestre)
 

Whooper Swan* Cygnus cygnus. One record(1,2 through snail mail) On 7.11 a flock of seven swans believed to be of this species was seen flying NW close to Barizo and Seiruga, Malpica, Galicia (Cosme Damián Romai Cousido). On 8.11 some people saw the birds feeding in the marsh of ria de Seiruga but intensive searching of the group on 9.11 was unsuccessful.On 16.11 there were 3 birds at Estuario da Insua, Ponteceso. They had been discovered few days before by José Luís Rabuñal Patiño (A.Sandoval, L.Salaverri, P.Pita, B.Torres, P.Gutiérrez).Still two on 23.11 (Tito y Rafa Salvadores, César Vidal) and 29-30.11 (Pedro J., Clemente, Pablo Fernandez y Daniel López Velasco)

Bean Goose Anser fabalis rossicus. The bird found at Azud de Riolobos, Salamanca, on 26-27.10  was still thre on 1.11 (Delfín González; M.Rouco, J.de  la Cruz).
 

Pink-footed Goose* Anser brachyrhynchus. Two records (1,2 via snail mail  ) The two adults at ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies found in october were still there on 4.11 (Adolfo Villaverde Garrido) See a photo last month Both birds were of different size and possibly it was a pair. Local birders believe that the Asturies birds and the Ortigueira birds (see below) might be the same according to dates of dissapearing and arrival to Galicia BUT the two birds were relocated on 13.11 so are different (Aldolfo Villaverde).Still ther on 15.11 (Adolfo López) and 17.11 (A.Villaverde)(2) On 7.11 there were two at ria de Ortigueira, A Coruña, Galicia (Antonio y Pablo Gutiérrez). White-fronted Goose Anser albifrons .There was one at Isla Menor, Sevilla on 1.11 together with 300 Greylag geese (Anser anser) On 4.11 there was a juvenile and 3 adults at the same place (José Manuel Reyes). On 1.11 (Delfin González; M.Rouco, J.de la Cruz)the two birds at Azud de Riolobos were still there (Delfín González).There were 2 albifrons at Villafáfila, Zamora on 2.11 (M.Rouco, A.González, J.de la Cruz).There were 2 at Isla Mayor, Sevilla on 4.11 (Paco Chiclana).There was one at the same place on 6.11 (P.Chiclana, J.Salcedo, R.Martin, M.Martín). There was one at Santoña on 9.11, the same seen already on 30.10 (J.Fernandez Aransay & Fernando Arce). Nearby, at Pozón de la Dolores, Camargo, Cantabria, the adult ssp albifrons was seen again on 6.11 (Máximo Sánchez Cobo) and  9.11 (J.M.Pérez de Ana, M.Garrigós; F.González).See two thumbnails here. This bird was initially found on 18.10 (J.López) and 19-10 (Beatriz López, Máximo Sánchez). There were 5 at Vilalfáfila, Zamora on 5.11 (Adolfo Villaverde).On 9.11 there were 4 at Azud de Riolobos, Salamanca (Mariano Torres, Octavio Infante, Javier de la Cruz).There was one at Sariñena, HUesca on 12.11 (Alberto Bueno).At Embalse de Leiva, La Rioja, there were 2 1st winters within a party of 12 Greylags on 23.11 (Ignacio Gámez).One adult was at Poders de Escalante, Santoña, Cantabria on 20.11 (Juan Manuel Pérez de Ana) and 25.11 Juán Gómez Navedo y María Díaz).There was one at Sariñena lagoon, Huesca on 30.12 (Luis Tirado).

Barnacle Goose Branta leucopsis A bird was seen at Isla Mayor, Sevilla on 4.11 (Paco Chiclana)

Brent Goose Branta bernicla. On 24.11 there were 2 at playon de Cicero, Santoña, Cantabria (Juán Gómez Navedo, J.J.Fernández Aransay, María Díaz y José A. Gómez)Still there on 28-29.11 (I.García, A.Bustamante, F.Arce; Bigotudo). There was one 1stw at Ria do Burgo, A Coruña on 29.11 (Delfín González).

Ruddy Shelduck Tadorna ferruginea. A female was seen at Isla Mayor, Sevilla on 8.11 (P.Chiclana, M.Villaécija, J.Martin,  D.Huertas, R.Romero).There were 3 at Buda Island, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 22.11 (Mariano Cebolla, David Bigas). At Fuerteventura, there were five at Los Molinos on 7.11and 2 at Catalina García on 11 & 15.11 (Alan Miller). Nine were at Embalse del Pardo, Madrid on 9.11 (A.Rodriguez)
 

Ring-necked Duck* Aythya collaris (1 ,2,3,4,5, 6 via snail mail ) The first for Catalonia, a female or 1w,  was found in company of 5 Tufted Ducks Aythya fuligula at PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 2.11 (J.Martí-Aledo, Teresa Montràs, M.Caamaño). On 3.11 was still there (O.Clarabuch, P.Feliu i altres) and it has been discovered that was seen and later photographed without being initially assigned to the species on 1.11 (Martí Rodríguez ; Angel Arroyes), being this the first date for the species there. See 3 thumbnails here.Still there on 11.11 (Jordi Martí Aledo, R.Gutiérrez, T.Montràs, E.Guinart, P.Feliu, B.Minobis) but not found on 14.11 and later (Jordi Martí Aledo).(2) There was a juvenilewithin a Wigeon flock at Ria de Villaviciosa, Asturies from 3-4.11 (Adolfo Villaverde Garrido).(3)  A pair was at As Forcadas, Valdoviño, A Coruña on 11.11 (Luis J. Salaverri, Antonio Gutiérrez, Pablo Gutiérrez).See two photos below (© Pablo Gutiérrez)(4) There was a female at Selga de Ordás reservoir, León at least on 1-8.11 (Nacho Rodríguez, Javier García, Carlos Zumalacárregui). Lesser Scaup* Aythya affinis (1 ,)  A male was at As Forcadas, Valdoviño, A Coruña on 11.11 in company of a pair of Ring-necked Duck (Luis José Salaverri, Antonio Gutiérrez, Pablo Gutiérrez). Still there on 29-30.11 (Delfín González; Pedro J., Clemente, Pablo Fernandez y Daniel López Velasco) when suggested according to eye colour, flanks pattern that ot could be not an adult.

Ferruginous Duck Aythya nyroca. There was a male at laguna del Portil, Huelva on 5.11 (John Muddeman).There was a pair at Les Llaunes area, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 11.11 (J.Martí-Aledo, R.Gutiérrez, T.Montràs, B.Minobis, E.Guinart, P.Feliu et al).Relocated at Closa del Puig, Aiguamolls on 17.11 (Jordi Martí Aledo, Mireia Jiménez). There was a male at Azud de Riolobos, Salamanca, on 11.12 (Octavio Infante, Francisco Cosme).There were 3 at Bombita ricefields, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 14.11 (David Bigas).There was a female at laguna de Soto Manzaneque, Algete, Madrid on 27.11(Delfín González).The bird at la Massona, Aiguamolls, was relocated on 27.11 (X.del Acebo, J.Martí Aledo) and 28.11 (T.Montràs).

Scaup Aythya marila. A 1st winter male and a female were seen at Bombita ricefields, PN Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 14.11 (David Bigas).There were 2 (1w male and 1w female) at Ría de Eo, Lugo/Asturies on 20.11 (Pablo Fernández)

Long-tailed Duck Clangula hyemalis There were 2 presumed 1st winters at Tancada lagoon, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona fron 16.11 (David Bigas) to 21.11 at least (Mariano Cebolla, Jamie Durrant).
 

Ruddy Duck* Oxyura jamaicensis. 2 records (1, 2 ) (1)On 3.11 one male in winter plumage was found at laguna de Soto Manzaneque, Algete, Madrid (Gabriel Martín)(2)A 1st winter female appeared at cal Tet lagoon, El Prat de Llobregat, Llobregat delta, Barcelona on 12.11 (X.Larruy, G.Siré; F.López, F.X.Santaeufemia). On 13.11 it was still there (F.López, R.Gutiérrez). See a thumbnail here.It was last seen on 18.11 (H.Garrido, J.Pérez de Ayala, F.López, R.Gutiérrez, F.X.Santaeufemia, A.Ramal et al).

Long-legged Buzzard* Buteo rufinus(1,2 via snail mail)  One was reported from complejo endorreico de Espera, Cádiz on 9.11 (José Manuel Reyes, Rafa Romero).(2) An adult  bird was seen from 8.10 to 5.11 at devesa del Saler, PN l'Albufera de València, València (J.I.Dies; J.L.Terrasa, T.Alcocer, D.Cruz). The bird was in good condition but after some research no idea of its origin has been established, hence an unknown origin putative remark from the authors.  See a thumbnail here

Lesser Spotted/Spotted Eagle* Aquila pomarina/clanga (1, 2)  One was seen and photographed at El Rocío on 7.11 (a subadult) which may well be again an hybrid like that (or the same) reported last year or a pomarina but some local birders claim it as clanga (John Muddeman) . This eagle was first reported on 20.10 by José Luis Arroyo.  Much detailed information is needed to judge this record. Red-footed Falcon Falco vespertinus. One was reported from Campillos, Málaga on 22.11 (Antonio Tamayo)

Crested Coot Fulica cristata. There were 3 at complejo endorreico de Espera, Cádiz on 9.11 (José Manuel Reyes, Rafa Romero).

Dotterel Charadrius morinellus. On 27.11 there was an adult at coastal meadows of Villamil, Tapia de Casariego, Asturies. It was with 80 Pluvialis apricaria (Pablo Fernández García). On 30.11 it was still there with 400 Pluvialis apricaria (Pedro J. Menéndez Martinez, Clemente Álvarez Usategui, Daniel Lopez Velasco y  Pablo Fernández Garcíal).
 

Lesser Yellowlegs* Tringa flavipes. (1 by snail mail ) A bird was seen on 16.11 at Estuario da Insua, Ponteceso. Sabine's Gull Larus sabini Two were seen from cabo de Corrubedo, A Coruña on 1.11 (Tito y Rafael Salvadores, César Vidal).

Common Gull Larus canus Only extreme inland records. A 1st winter was found at graveras del Porcal, Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Madrid on 9.11 (Miguel Juan, Delfín González). Of a high rarity in Madrid. Forster's Tern* Sterna forsteri. One record (1) On 16.11 a 1w bird was seen at Camariñas, A Coruña, Galicia (Antonio Sandoval, Luis Salaverri, Pablo Pita, Bárbara Torres & Pablo Gutiérrez). Laughing Dove* Streptopelia senegalensis. (1) A bird was at La Lajita, Fuerteventura on 14.11 (Alan Miller).

Richard's Pipit* Anthus richardi (1 via snail mail,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ) (1) A bird was heard in flight over Maresma de les Filipines, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona on 3.11 (Ferran López)(2) There was one or possibly two at playa de la Gola, Santa Pola, Alacant on 7.11. The species had been referred at the same place last year (Malcolm Palmer).Still there on 25.11 (Malcolm Palmer).(3) on 6.11 there was one at the coastal meadows of Campos, Tapia de Casariego, Asturies (Pablo Fernández García).(4) There were four at Condres, Gozón, Asturies, on 6.11 (Elias García Sánchez) and (5) 1-2 birds were seen at Cabu Peñas, Asturies on 4.11 (Elias García Sánchez). Still 2 at cabu Peñas on 15.11 (Alfonso López López).(6) There were 6 birds altogether at coastal meadows of Arnao, Castropol, Asturies on 19.11 (Pablo Fernández García)(7) There were 13 (!) birds at Cabo Peñes, Gozón, Asturies on 22.11 (Clemente Álvarez Usátegui).On 28.11 six of those were seen there too (Adolfo Villaverde Garrido)(8) There were 3 at Tancada meadows, PN Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 28.11 (David Bigas)

Red-throated Pipit Anthus cervinus. At Cabo Negro, between Avilés and cabo Peñes, Asturies, there was a probable bird betwen 3-9.11 (COA).There were two at El Hondo NR, Alicante on 15.11 (Oscar Aldeguer, Rubén Limiñana) to 16.11 (Adolfo J Quiles) when photographed. Pied Wagtail Motacilla alba yarrellii. On 10.11 there was a male at Zamora city, Castilla-León (Isabel Martín, J.Alfredo Hernández).One was trapped at Sevilla on 7.11 (Alberto Plata). On 16.11 there was a bird at Parque de Invierno de Oviedo, Asturies (Xabier Remirez).On 17.11 one was seen near the Mallorca airport (Lalo Ventoso). Marmora's/Balearic Warbler * Sylvia sarda/balearica.One record  A singing male was on 20.11 in Res.Nat. de Caca Ports de Tortosa-Beceit, Tarragona (Ian Ford). This record is submitted via snail mail.

Yellow-browed Warbler* Phylloscopus inornatus. Two records (1 via snail mail ,2) (1)On 1.11 it was observed one bird near Tahivilla, Cádiz (James Wolstencroft)(2) On 5.11 one EURING 3 was trapped and ringed at Manecorro area, Doñana Nationa Park, Huelva (José Luis Arroyo). Dusky Warbler* Phylloscopus fuscatus. 3rd FOR SPAIN (1 through snail mail). An adult  bird was trapped and ringed at Ponteceso, A Coruña on 9.11 (Grupo de Anillamiento Hércules: F.Rosende, F.Calviño, M.A.Maestro, J.Pastoriza). Photos soon.See a thumbnail here. Northern Great Grey Shrike Lanius excubitor. Rare in N Spain. We will include all received records. An individual was seen at Santiago de Ambiedes, near cabo Negro, Asturies on 6.11 (Jorge Valella).
 

Lapland Bunting* Calcarius lapponicus (1). A bird, possibly a male moulting into winter plumage was found within a Skylark Alauda arvensis flock and three Snow Buntings at Cabo Negro, Gozón, Asturies on 3-4.11 (Manuel Quintana Becerra; Elias García, J.A.García Fernadez, D.López Velasco, C.Alvarez Usátegui).Seen again on 7.11when possitively aged as adult in winter plumage (Manuel Quintana, Clemente Álvarez Usátegui). Snow Bunting Plectrophenax nivalis. On 3.11 there were three, a male and 2 1st winters at Gozón, Asturies (see Lapland Bunting) (M.Quintana, E.Garcia). On 1.11 there was one at PN Corrubedo, Ribeira, A Coruña (TIto y Rafael Salvadores, César Vidal).See a photo below.There was a male at playa de la Gerra, San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria on 8.11(Alejandro García Herrera).At Sierra de la Bobia, Villanueva de Oscos, Asturies, there was a flock of 8 birds on 5.11 aproximately at 1100 meters above sea level (Xurde Gayol).On 7.11 the three of Gozón were still there (Manuel Quintana Becerra).There were 4 more at cabu Peñas, Asturies on 4.11 (Elias García Sánchez).There was one at Santander city itself on 17.11 (possibly the street was Camilo Alonso Vega street) (Felipe González).There were 7 at Insua sand-dunes, Ponteceso, A Coruña on 23.11 (Tito y Rafael Salvadores, César Vidal).Two of the flock seen at Cabo Peñas were seen on 25.11 (Adolfo Villaverde Garrido).
