(1) Navarra There was a drake at Embalse de las Cañas, Viana, Navarra on 15.3 (Gorka Gorospe).
(2) Huesca On 28.3 a drake was seen at Valdabra, Huesca (Juan Carlos Albero). On 29.3 it was stll there (Juan Carlos Albero). See a thumbnail here.

(1) El Hierro. On 13.3 a female was found at Frontera reservoir, El Hierro, Canary Islands (Andrew Jewels). It remained there on 15, 17 and 19.3 (Andrew Jewels). See three thumbnails here.

Surf Scoter Melanitta perspicillata (1)
(1) A Coruña. The bird found on 29.2 off Fornos, Cariño, A Coruña remained there on 1-2.3 (Ricardo Hevia).

Presumed hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret Egretta gularis x garzetta (1,2,3,4)
(1) Valencia. On 3.3 there was a pale grey bird at tancat del Pomero ricefields, Valencia, near Pujol Vell (T. Pérez, Y. Maggiotto @birdingalbufera.es).This or another bird was seen on 30.3 at RN de la Ratlla, Silla, Albufera de València (Bosco Dies @ birdingalbufera.es).
(2) Mallorca. Thebird found on 29.1 at Salobrar de Campos, Mallorca was relocated on 12.3 (Tobias Rautenberg, Jan Heckmann).
(3) Girona. On 13.3 a presumed hybrid was found at Pals ricefields, Girona (Joan Estrada Jofra, Montse Jofra, Victor Estrada), see photos below. On 15.3 it was seen again near Boada lagoon (Ricard Gutiérrez), see a photo below and on 16.3 it remained in that area (Xavier Idígora). Still there on 18.3 (Miguel Ángel Fuentes @ornitho.cat) and 19.3 (Joan Goy @ornitho.cat). On 21.3 it was still there (Guillem Saguer, Miguel Ángel Pérez de Gregorio @ornitho.cat). On 27.3 it was relocated at Estany de Boada, Pals, Girona, but it moved to Basses d’en Coll, Pals, Girona, the following day (Joan Estrada Jofra, Montse Jofra, Víctor Estrada @ birdingemporda.com).

Pied-billed Grebe Podylimbus podiceps (1)
(1) Gran Canaria. The 1w found on 2.11 at Estanques de Aldea Blanca, San Bartolome de Tirajana, Gran Canaria continued there on 5.3 (Miguel Avelino Suárez, Francisco Guerra), see a thumbnail here. The other one presumably remains in the island as well.It was seen again on 12.3 at the same place (Miguel Avelino Suárez, Francisco Guerra).See a photo below and thumbnail here. The bird was still there on 24.3 (Xabier Remirez).

(1) Cantabria. The bird found on 7.1 at Escalante canal, Santoña, Cantabria remained at Santoña on 19.3 (Juan Carlos Andrés, Iván Sarabia). See four photos below (Juan Carlos Andrés). (1) Cádiz. On 15.3 a 2cy was found at Salinas de los Portugueses, Espacio Natural Doñana, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz (José Luís Arroyo). See two photos below.

(9-10) Málaga. On 26.3 two birds were present at Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, Málaga (José Márquez, Diego Peinazo).

(1) Cádiz. One, possibly an adult, was seen at Santuario valley, Tarifa, Cádiz on 8.3 (J.A. Sarry).
(2) Cádiz. A bird was seen on 30.3 at Cazalla, Tarifa, Cádiz (J.A. Sarry). The same individual was photographed later at El Cabrito, Tarifa, Cádiz (Javier Elorriaga). See a photo below (Javier Elorriaga / Birding the Strait).

(1) Málaga. The 1w/♀ seen at Fuentedepiedra lagoon, Málaga on 24.2 was still there on 2.3 (Andrew M.Allport). See thumbnails here.
(2) Girona. On 23.3 a male was seen at Vilamalla. Girona (Marc Bertran @ www.birdingemporda.com).

(1) Lleida On 25.3 a bird was reported from Bellcaire d'Urgell, Lleida while flying north (Carles Oliver).
(2) Lleida On 26.3 a bird was reported from Alt Àneu, Lleida (Oriol Cortés @ornitho.cat).

(1) Alicante Second winter. The 2nd winter seen in previous months was recorded again at El Hondo, Alicante on 18.3 (Óscar Aldeguer, Jana Marco).

Sociable Lapwing Vanellus gregarius (1,2)
(1) Alicante. The bird seen on 5.1 at El Hondo, Alicante remained there on 4.3 (Paul Coombes).The bird was seen again at Dolores, El Hondo, Alicante on 8.3 (Paul Coombes). Not seen later in the month.
(2) Cáceres. There was a bird at Brozas, Cáceres on 10.3 (Carlos González, Rubén Moreno-Opo, Manuel Pina y Agustín Mogena). See a thumbnail here (Rubén Moreno-Opo).

Buff-breasted Sandpiper Calidris subruficollis (1-2)
(1-2) Tarragona. The two birds found on 2.1 at Ebre delta, Tarragona reappeared by Mid March. On 18.3 one was seen at La Platjola, Sant Jaume d'Enveja, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (David Bigas). On 20.3 the two of them shared grounds at Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Daniel Roca; Harold Wijt). (1) Tarragona. On 20.3 a bird was seen at Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Harold Wijts).

SOLITARY SANDPIPER Tringa solitaria (1) 4TH FOR SPAIN (only one accepted so far)
(1) Almería. The bird at Almanzora river, Cuevas de Almanzora, Almería coming from 4.2 was still present in early March: 1.3 (Paul Coombes, Helen Commandeur). The bird was relocated on 17.3 (Richard Howard), see a photo below. On 24.3 it was seen again (Luís Lacal; Ignacio Torres). See a thumbnail here (Ignacio Torres). Spotted Sandpiper Actitis macularius (1,2)
(1) Lanzarote. The bird found on 30.12.2015 at Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands continued there on 5.3.2016 (F. Javier García Vargas).
(2) Pontevedra. The bird at ria de Pontevedra seen on 24.1 was seen again on 5.3 at A Seca, Poio, Pontevedra (David Calleja Marcos). See a photo below.

(1) Murcia. The bird coming from last December 2015 that was relocated at Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia in late February was seen again on 2.3 (Pat Harrison; Barry Chambers). (1) A Coruña . The overwintering adult remained at Cariño, A Coruña, on 2.3 (Ricardo Hevia).

(2) Araba. Probably the same 1w bird seen on 4.2 at Salburúa, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Araba was relocated on 4.3 (Óscar Carazo), but only with one leg. Read more in Óscar blog here.
(3) Navarra. The pvc ringed 1w bird (ring XEHU) from Germany seen from 11.2 at Culebrete dump, Tudela, was seen again on 1.3 (Jesús Mari Lekuona, Ricardo Rodríguez). (1) Bizkaia The 4th winter bird overwintering at Ondarroa, Bizkaia was seen again on 6.3 (Juan Carlos Andrés y Carmelo de Dios), see a photo below. Thayer's Gull Larus thayeri (1) RETURNING BIRD, THE FIRST FOR SPAIN.
(1) Lugo On 19.3 the returning adult locally named ‘Ciprana’ was seen again at Lago, Xove, Lugo (Toño Salazar). On 20.3 it was seen again at nearby San Cibrao, Xove, Lugo (Pablo Gutiérrez, Antonio Gutiérrez). See a photo below (Toño Salazar).The bird was seen the following days at Xove, Lago, Lugo: 22.3 (Javi Cantil), 24.3 (Quique Carballal) and 25.3 (Juan Carlos Andrés, David Calleja), see photos below. Seen again on 27.3 (Manuel Quintana, Charo Fdez. Montaño). The gull was seen again on 30.3, when it was still at San Cibrao beach, Lugo (Toni Alcocer i Pepe Ruiz).

(1) A Coruña The bird seen last month at playa de Matadoiro, Arteixo, A Coruña was seen again on 3.3 (D.González). See a photo below.This individual remained there on 13.3 (Xosé Manoel Carregal).This bird was seen again on 26.3 (Juan Carlos Andrés).

(1) Cantabria. The bird found on 13.1 at Santoña, Cantabria remained there on 6.3 (Jesús Menéndez).
(2) A Coruña. On 18.3 a bird was seen at Lorbé, Oleiros, A Coruña (Daniel Monteagudo).

(4) A Coruña. A 1w was seen on 27.3 at Playa de Alba, Arteixo, A Coruña. Still around (Juan Carlos Andrés) .

BLACK GUILLEMOT Cepphus grylle (1) 1ST FOR MEDITERRANEAN SPAIN
(1) Murcia. On 29.3, during a seawatch from Palos cape, Murcia, a bird was seen at close distance in a day of a heavy Razorbill and Puffin passage. Submitted to the Rarities Committee, it will become the 1st for Mediterranean Spain if accepted (Antonio Fuentes, Inés Chamón).

Laughing Dove Streptopelia senegalensis (1)
(1) Illes Balears. On 15.3 a bird was seen and photographed at Sant Jordi, Eivissa, Illes Balears (Juanjo Bazán @rareses ornitològiques balears).

Horned Lark Eremophila alpestris (1) 1ST FOR GALICIA
(1) A Coruña. On 23.3 a bird was found at A Capelada, Cariño, A Coruña (Ricardo Hevia). Later seen by more observers (José Miguel Alonso Pumar,Antonio Gutierrez,Pablo Gutiérrez,Toñito Martínez Pernas,Juan Pita Romero,Fernando Pereiras,Berto Monteagudo,Manolo Carregal,Graciela Fernández Arrojo,Carla Soaje,dani Monteagudo ,José Ramón Sánchez Bugallo y Pablo Pita). It remained there on 24 when many observers went to see the bird being a 1st for Galicia (Ricardo Hevia and many others). On 25.3 it was still there (Ricardo Hevia, Manuel Quintana Becerra, Charo Fdez Montaño y Nacho Castelao; Juan Sagardía, Nicolás Muñoz, David Calleja, Juan Carlos Andrés, Pablo Gutiérrez, Antonio Gutiérrez, Xabier Vázquez) and it was seen again on 26.3 but not on 27.3 (Ricardo Hevia pers.com.). The bird was relocated at A Capelada on 31.3 (Ricardo Hevia , Fernando Pereiras, Toni Alcocer, Pepe Ruiz). See a photo below (Ricardo Hevia).

Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus (1,2,3)
(1) Barcelona. One was heard calling on 13.3 at Camí de Sant Cugat, Collserola, Barcelona (41.428074, 2.11422) (Ferran López).
(2) Fuerteventura. The bird present last month at Betancuria, Fuerteventura, Canary Is. remained there on 8.3 when it was photographed (Juan Fernández-Elipe Rodríguez, Paula Machín). See a photo below and thumbnail here.

(3) Barcelona. On 22.3 a bird was found at La Ciutadella Park, Barcelona (Salva Solé). On 23.3 it was seen again (Mireia Martín).

Dusky Warbler Phylloscopus fuscatus (1)
(1) Girona. The bird found on 8.1 at Closa de les Molleroses, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona remained there on 2.3 (Albert Cama) and 5.3 (Jordi Vázquez de Luca @ birdingemporda.com).The warbler continued in its rather restricted overwintering area and it was seen again on 9.3 (Carles Tobella, María Caminero @ornitho.cat) and on 13.3 (Àlex Ollé / www.birdingemporda.com), see a photo below (Àlex Ollé). The bird was relocated on 28.3, when it was still at Les Molleroses, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Girona (Àlex Ollé @ birdingemporda.com).

Siberian Chiffchaff Phylloscopus collybita tristis (1,2,3,4,5)
(1) Girona. A bird was seen on 3.3 at Estany Europa, Aiguamolls de l’Empordà (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Toni Mallol @ birdingempordà.com). Still there on 5.3 (Jordi Martí-Aledo).This bird was seen again on 9.3 (Jorge García @ birdingempordà.com). Still there on 15-16.3 (Àlex Ollé @ Birdingempordà.com). See a photo below (Àlex Ollé). Also there on 19.3 (Jordi Martí-Aledo @ birdingemporda.com). This bird was seen again on 21.3 (Miguel Ángel Pérez de Gregorio @ornitho.cat).

(2) Girona. The bird seen in previous months at Ter Vell, L'Estartit, Girona, was seen again on 4.3 (Joan Goy @ ornitho.cat). This bird was relocated on 28.3 at the same place, Ter Vell, l’Estartit, Girona (Gerard Dalmau @ birdingemporda.com).
(3) Barcelona. On 2.3 a bird was seen and trapped at Remolar-Filipines reserve, Llobregat Delta, Viladecans, Barcelona. The bird showed slight 'fulvescens' traits according to the ringers (Joan Castelló, Jalo Conde, 1r ESO course Institut Lluís Vives). See two photos below (Joan Castelló).

(5) Girona. On On 27.3 a bird was seen at Llacunes d'en Margarit de can Morgat, Porqueres, Girona (David Funosas @ornitho.cat).

(1) Huesca. On 29.3 an adult was found at San Salvador reservoir, Huesca (Dani Cazo). See a photo below. Later seen by more authors (Juan Carlos Albero et al). On 30.3 it remained there and it was photographed again (Juan Carlos Albero).
