Whooper Swan Cygnus cygnus (1,2-3)
(1) Asturias. The bird coming from late November 2015 at Embalse de San Andrés, Gijón, Asturies continued there in february 2016 when it was seen on 7.2 (Manuel Quintana Becerra).

(2) Csntabria. There were two at Santoña marshes on 8.2 (David González Ortega, Pedro Arratibel y Pedro Arratibel Jr.).

Snow Goose Anser caerulescens (1-2) CATEGORY D SPECIES
(1-2) Asturias. The two seen in December 2015 at Embalse de San Andrés, Gijón, Asturies continued in February 2016 and were recorded on 7.2 (Manuel Quintana Becerra). See a photo below. Ed.Comment. Coincidence with influx in E N America and records elsewhere in Europe grant these birds for reconsidering them as wild American individuals.

(1) Almería. There was a bird at Almanzora river, Cuevas de Almanzora, Almería on 4.2 (Andrew Allport). See photos below. The author states: The location was at the second road crossing from the river mouth (not including the highway) at GPS coordinates 37°15'46.7"N 1°47'50.7"W. Ed. comment: Might this be the Málaga bird from late 2015?.During the second week of February the bird remained there, moving a bit along the river bank: on 7,2 it was at the same place (Andrew M. Allport). On 8.2 it was videotaped, see below (Richard Howard). On 12.2 more observers saw it (Jesús Díez, Juan Jiménez; David Elliott-Binns & Valerie Penny-Stewart Finlayson). (1) Pontevedra. There was a bird at ria de Pontevedra from 24.1 (Juan Carlos Epifanio) which was relocated and properly identified from 1-3.2 (José Ramón Gómez). On 4.2 it was seen again (Vitor Xosé Cabaleiro) and on 5.2 too (Pablo Sanmartín, Manuel Xestoso, Gustavo Ferreiro, Cosme Damián Romay). See three photos below (Vitor Xosé Cabaleiro). (8) Cantabria. On 8.2 a 1w was found at Santoña marshes, Cantabria (David González Ortega, Pedro Arratibel y Pedro Arratibel Jr.). This bird was seen at Laredo on 25.2 (Alfredo Valiente).

(9) Castelló. On 9.2 a 1w was found at Peñíscola, Castelló (Gorka Gorospe).

(10) Cádiz. On 9.2 a 1w was at Salinas de la Tapa, Cádiz (Rafael García Costales).

(11) A Coruña. On 10.2 a different bird from (7) was at Cedeira, A Coruña (Ricardo Hevia).

(12) Navarra. On 11.2 a pvc ringed 1w bird (ring XEHU) from Germany,and cachinanns according to ringer, was found at Culebrete dump, Tudela, Navarra (J.M. Lekuona). See a photo below. Some Spanish authors consider, however, that this bird is not a pure and or typical individual.

(14) Huesca From 12-13.2 a 1w was at Fornillos dump, Huesca (Juan Carlos Albero) .

(15) A Coruña. On 23.2 a 1w PVC ringed 86P6 was at Cariño, A Coruña (Ricardo Hevia)

(16) Tarragona. On 26.2 a 2cy was seen at Cambrils, Tarragona (Albert Cama). Not relocated the next weekend.

(1) Bizkaia The returning 4th winter bird that was seen last month at Ondarroa, Bizkaia was seen again on 8.2 (Lorenzo Alcántara, Francisco Montaño) and 12.2 (Gorka Gorospe). It's being seen intermitently.On 16.2 it was seen again (Rober Hurtado) and on 19.2 too (Juan Carlos Andrés). The bird was seen again on 24.2 (Jesús Menéndez) and 27.2 (Juan Carlos Andrés), see two photos below and more in his blog here.

(5) A Coruña A 1w was seen on 10.2 at Cedeira, A Coruña (Ricardo Hevia)

(6) Lugo A bird was seen on 14.2 at Xove, Lago, Lugo (Rafael García Costales, Carlos Gutiérrez).

(7-8) Lugo Two birds were seen at Burela, Lugo on 14.2 (Rafael García Costales, Carlos Gutiérrez).

(9) Huelva A nearby adult was seen on 5.2 at Guadiana river mouth at both sides of the Spanish-Portuguese frontier (Chris Kehoe). See a photo below: 'a Glaucous Gull at the River Guadiana estuary on Feb. 5th 2016. I was actually in Portugal at the time but the roost site on a sandbar at the river mouth is right on the border with Spain and it was definitely seen flying in Spanish airspace. I only viewed the bird with binoculars at 400m+ range and took a few images with my bridge camera, including the attached. It appears to be an adult or near-adult., at least I cannot see a dark bill tip. (Chris Kehoe)'.

The bird found on 8.1 at Closa de les Molleroses, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona remained there on 1.2 (Raúl Bastida @ornitho.cat) and 6.2 (Miquel Arxer, Joan Goy @ornitho.cat).This bird continued in the area the 2nd week of February: 8.2 at Les Molleroses (Xavier Parra @ ornitho.cat) and 14.2 near Quim Franch hide, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Jordi Martí-Aledo @ Birding Empordà). The bird was seen again on 21.2 (Ponç Feliu) and on 25.2 too (Jana Marco, Ana van der Hofstadt).

(1) Girona. Perhaps the same bird seen on 24.1 at El Matà, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona or another was relocated at Aguait de les Gantes, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Castelló d'Empúries, Girona (Jozef Leestmans).

(2) Girona. On 7.2 the bird seen and heard previously at Ter Vell, L'Estartit, Girona, was seen again (Gerard Dalmau).This bird was seen again on 25.2 (Joan Goy @ ornitho.cat).
