(1) A Coruña. 2nd of the season was seen on 11.9 from Cape Ortegal, Cariño, A Coruña (Ricardo Hevia). Probably the same bird had been seen minutes before from Estaca de Bares by Finnish observers (R.Hevia in litt).

(2) A Coruña. On 26.9 a bird was seen from Estaca de Bares, A Coruña (Antonio Sandoval)

(1) Cádiz. On 10.9 a bird was seen from Tráfico bird observatory, Tarifa, Cádiz (Joan A. Ximenis, Santi Villa et al)
(2-4) Cádiz. On 12.9 three immature birds were seen from Algarrobo bird observatory, Algeciras, Cádiz (Paco Chiclana).

(5-7) Cádiz. On 25.9 three birds were seen from Mirador del Estrecho, Tarifa, Cádiz (Hadoram Shirihai, Javier Elorriaga/Birding the Straits). According to Javier Elorriaga / Birding the Straits, c.3-5 birds were seen every day in the Straits area between Tarifa and Algeciras area.

(8) Cádiz. On 26.9 a bird was seen at Cazalla, Tarifa, Cádiz (Álex Colorado, Mariano Martínez, Javier Train).

(1) Barcelona. On 11.9 a male was seen in flight over El Remolar, delta del Llobregat, Barcelona (Eio Ramón). See a photo below and thumbnails here.

(2) Zaragoza. On 20.9 a satellite -tagged bird was seen near Zuera, Zaragoza. Read more on this case and follow the map in this link The bird continued south and on 21.9 it flew W of Valencia over Requena to the S. On 23.9 it reached Cabo de Gata,Almería where at 6:00 AM GMT began flying over the sea towards Melilla, Spain, N Africa, reached 6 hours later the same day. Bird moved S into Morocco that same day.

(3) Tarragona. On 21.9 a juvenile was seen flying over El Trabucador, delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Carles Domingo)

(4) Tarragona. On 22.9 a male was seen at Les Olles, l'Ampolla, delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch). It remained into 23.9 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch).

(5) Tarragona. On 23.9 a juvenile was seen flying S over Cambrils harbour, Tarragona (Màrius Domingo)

(6) Barcelona. On 24.9 a male was seen migrating over Turó de Fra Rafel, Sant Fost de Campcentelles, Barcelona (Josep Bel)

(3) Cádiz. On 24.9 two were seen near Cazalla,Tarifa, Cádiz. One of the birds at least was different from two seen day before at la Janda (see a thumbnail here) so at least three different individuals (Javier Elorriaga/Birding the Straits, Alberto Savijn, Julio Rabadan)

(1) Tarragona. The adult that reached again Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 13.8 was seen again on 4.9 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). It remained there all the following week, when photographed too: 6.9 (Jordi Sala, Quique Carballal, Josep Tantull, Roser Solé, Ricard Gutiérrez, Helena Arbonés), 7.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez), 8.9 (Quique Carballal; Miguel Angel Martín; Ricard Gutiérrez), 9.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez, Helena Arbonés), 10.9 ( J.Tantull, R.Solé, B.García, R.Gutiérrez, H.Arbonés, F.J.Lloris), 11.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez), 12.9 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). See three photos below and thumbnails here (Ricard Gutiérrez). Not seen subsequently, perhaps moved to other areas of the Delta with the apricaria it was.

(1) Tarragona. A bird was seen at Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona from 3-4.9 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). See a thumbnail here. It was seen again on 6.9 morning (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé; Pau García @ornitho.cat) but not during the afternoon nor the next week despite several authors search. On 12.9 it was relocated (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé) and photographed, see below. It remained in the area on 13.9 (Quique Carballal). Seen again on 14.9 (Màrius Domingo). Subsequent claims not supported with photos and single observer claims, despite hard search through DBF2015 weekend.

(1) Albacete. The juvenile found at Pétrola lagoon, Albacete, on 28.8 remained there on 1.9 (Rafa Torralba)
(2) Barcelona. The juvenile found on 24.8 at Cal Tet marshes, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona remained there on 1-4.9 (Ferran López). See a photo below and thumbnail here. This bird or another was relocated from 14-16.9 (Ferran López). Still there on 18.9 (Xavier Ruiz @ornitho.cat) and 21.9 (Ferran López). It remained there on 29.9 and 30.9 (Ferran López).

(5) València. There was a bird on 12.9 aat Tancat de Milia, Sollana, València (Pedro Marín)

(6) Cáceres. A juvenile was seen on 14.9 at Galisteo lagoon, Cáceres, Extremadura ( Jose Luis Bautista Morán). See two thumbnais here.

(7) Asturias. A juvenile was found on 12.9 at Playa de Serantes, Tapia de Casariego, Asturias (Pablo Miki). On 13.9 it was still there and it was photographed (Manuel Quintana Becerra). See a photo below. Also present on 14.9 (Gilberto S. Jardón).

(8-9) Girona. Two juveniles were seen at Estany d'en Pericus, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 24.9 (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Oriol Clarabuch and others).

(10) Tarragona. A juvenile was seen at a temporal pond at Vila-Seca, Tarragona,on 27.9 (Lídia Pérez, Xavier Riera). Seen later by more authors (Lluc Sernis, Màrius Domingo, Joan Ferré et al). (11) Murcia. On 30.9, a juvenile was at Las Urrutias, Mar Menor, Murcia (Richard Howard).

Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus (1-3,4-5,6-7,8)
(1-3) Tarragona . There were three birds at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 3.9 (Jordi Martí-Aledo). Two remained on 7.9 (Jordi Martí-Aledo) and one, adult, on 10.9 (Carles Domingo, Ricard Gutiérrez). There were four juveniles and an adult on 14.9 at Punta de la Banya, delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Jordi Martí-Aledo). Presumably part of these were part of these three which gather more new birds from that day (see under 6-7).

(4-5) Zaragoza . Two were found at a small lagoon near Bujaraloz, Zaragoza, on 12.9 (Esteban Hernández). See a photo below. Later seen by more observers (Juan Carlos Albero, Jesús Lavedán, Alfredo Sánchez Galán y Ricardo Pérez).

(6-7) Tarragona . There were four juveniles and an adult on 14.9 at Punta de la Banya, delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Jordi Martí-Aledo). The adult and one juvenile remained there on 18-21.9 (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Carles Domingo, Ricard Gutiérrez). See photos below and a thumbnail here. On 20.9 however, there were three birds, the adult and two juveniles (Jordi Martí-Aledo). Exact number of juveniles given they may replace one for another is not absolutely clear.

(1-2) Cádiz . On 16.9 there were two at Palmones, Cádiz (Mariano Martínez, Álex Colorado).

(3-5) Cádiz . On 16.9 3 ind remained at Los Lances beach, Tarifa (Derek and Viv Gruar). See photos below. Birds were taken by Royal terns given apparent size and mantle colour but this might have been an optic effect once further photos from the same birds and day have been received (Paul Willoughby).

(1) Lanzarote. On 30.9 a bird was seen in flight at Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote (Francisco Javier García Vargas). The following day it was observed properly and photos were taken. See THIS SPECIAL PAGE HERE WITH LOTS OF INFORMATION AND PHOTOS.

Please contact the authors before using any photo for anything else than personal reference. Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent.Photos could be cropped for editorial reasons.Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those. Today news are marked with anew icon.
