The drake found on 5.1 at Desembocadura rio Anllons, Ponteceso, A Coruña was still present on 7.2 (Jesús Menéndez, Andrés Bermejo, Salva García, Asier Aldaur, Gabi Martín, Óscar Llama, Fernando Pereiras, Daniel Monteagudo, Carla Soaje y Cosme Damián Romay). Still present on 17.2 (Pau Calero, Olga Mallofré, Toni Mallol, Fina Bonet, Jordi Martí-Aledo).

(4) Gran Canaria. The 1w ♂found at Estanque de riego del matorral, Santa Lucia, Gran Canaria on 15.11.2014 was seen again on 7.2 (Robin Mawer) and 8.2 (Robin Mawer & Xabier Remirez).

The drake found at La Massona lagoon, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, on 31.12 remained there on 1.2 (Ferran López; Irene Barnosell @ ornitho.cat) and on 4.2 (Carles Oliver) to 8.2 (François Berthet, Anthony Chaillou @ornitho.cat). Seen again on 9.2 (Marc Rovira, Gemma Hurtado, Cristoph Haag @ ornitho.cat) and 13.2 (Fran Trabalón @ ornitho.cat). The bird was seen intermitently in the 2nd half of the month: 18.2 (Paul Adlam; Hubert Mas; David Archer @ornitho.cat), 22.2 (Jordi Martí-Aledo).The drake was still present on 26.2 (Ponç Feliu), 27.2 (Francesc Lloret @ ornitho.cat) and 28.2 (Ramón Aguilar @ornitho.cat) .

(3) Alicante. The drake found last month at El Hondo, Elx, Alicante remained there on 1.2 (Jorge Boronat). See a photo below. It was seen again on 18.2 (Óscar Aldeguer), hence demonstrating is a different bird from Valencia below.

(4) Valencia. There was a male at R.N. de la Mata de El Fang, l'Albufera de Valencia, on 11.2 (J.I. Dies, M. Chardí, I. Ruiz, G. García). ) Badajoz. The 1st for Extremadura, a drake, found on 31.1 at Embalse de Orellana, Badajoz, remained there on 1.2 (Marc Gàlvez, José Guerra).See a thumbnail here.It was still present on 8.2 (Mariano Martínez López)

(2) A Coruña. The female having been found by José Luís Rabuñal on 14.2 at Traba lagoon, Laxe, remained there on 17.2 (Pau Calero, Olga Mallofré, Toni Mallol, Fina Bonet, Jordi Martí-Aledo).

The bird was present the next week 18.2 (Paul Adlam; David Archer; Ferran González-Prat @ornitho.cat), 20.2 (Francesc Lloret @ornitho.cat) and 21.2 (Jus Pérez Martín, Maria José Valencia, Jordi Martí-Aledo).The individual at La Massona, PN AIguamolls Empordà, Girona was still present on 27.2 (Francesc Lloret @ ornitho.cat) and 28.2 (Ramón Aguilar @ornitho.cat).

The bird seen during the last months at Can Dimoni, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona was seen again on 6.2 (Josep Bel @ ornitho.cat) and 8.2 (Eduard Batista @ornitho.cat) and 13.2 (Raúl Bastida @ ornitho.cat). (1) Tarragona. The adult found at Migjorn fields on 27.8.2014 has overwintered in the Montsià part of Ebre Delta and was relocated during the January winter count (Parc Natural Delta de l'Ebre). On 28.2 it was found within a 76 Pluvialis apricaria flock at Mas de la Comandanta, S.Jaume d'Enveja, Tarragona (Ricard Gutiérrez, Jordi Martí-Aledo). Later seen by Gerard Dalmau. (1) Cáceres. The bird overwintering at at El Batán ricefields, Cáceres from 5.12.2014 was seen again on 6.2 (Sergio Mayordomo). See two thumbnails here. GREAT BLACK-HEADED (PALLAS'S) GULL Larus ichthyaetus (1) POSSIBLY RETURNING BIRD, THE FIRST FOR SPAIN
(1) Valencia. On 21.3.2014 a 2cy bird was found and photographed, in company of Yellow-legged Gulls Larus michahellis at La Foia, Sollana, P.N Albufera de València, València (Toni Alcocer). Much to the surprise of the author(s), on 9.2.2015 a 2w (3cy) bird, considered perhaps to be the same of 2014, was seen and photographed at Arrossars del rec del Diputat, Alfafar, Parc natural de l'Albufera, València (Bosco Dies, Toni Alcocer, J. Ignacio Dies, Miguel Chardí, Iván Ruíz, Guillermo García, Pedro Marín et al). It was only seen that day. See photos below. Relocated on 15.2 (Toni Alcocer;J.Portillo, J.Sagardía,C.Martín,X.Piñeiro et al), see a photo below, and on 18.2 (Nacho Castelao).

(5-6) Asturias On 22.2 there were 2 1w at Ría de Avilés. 1st bird was found at midday by José Antonia García Cañal then the 2nd joined the 1st later (Manuel Quintana Becerra). See a photo below. On 27.2 a 1w remained at Ría de Avilés, Asturias (Clemente Álvarez Usategui)

On 6.2 it was still present (Martin Gottschling), see two thumbnails here, and on 7.2 too (Jose Antonio Arregui, Toño Salazar) to 8.2 (Jordi Vázquez; David Calleja, J.Antonio Arregui, Gabriel Martín, Óscar Llama, Asier Aldaur, Jesús Menéndez, Atocha Ramos, Dani Monteagudo, Carla Soaje, Cosme Damián Romay). On 12.2 this same individual might have moved to playa do Torno de san Ciprián, Cervo, Lugo, where one was seen (Ricardo Hevia), see a thumbnail here. Again at Burela on 14.2 (Carlos Lozano Robledo, Sara Álvarez, Jorge Díaz, Bárbara Manzuoli). And 16.2 (Ricardo Hevia, Pau Calero, Olga Mallofré, Toni Mallol, Fina Bonet, Jordi Martí-Aledo) to 17.2 (Toño Salazar), 18.2 (Fernando Pereiras) and 20.2 (Marc Gàlvez, José Guerra). This bird remained there on 21.2 (Grabi de Jesús, Juan Sagardía, Carlos Martín, Daniel López Velasco, Manolo García, Guillermo Rodríguez, Ferran López, Óscar Llama, Rafa Armada, José Luis Copete, Alberto Javier Somoza, Xurxo Piñeiro, Alfonso Rodrigo et al) and 28.2 (Sandra Villarquide; David Calleja).

(6) Lugo On 6.2 there was a presumed hybrid argentatus X hyperboreus: one bird showing features of such a hybird was on at Burela harbour showing a large pale primary pattern (Martin Gottschling).Photos will be featured in due course.

(3) Lanzarote. On 20.2 one was present at Tabayesco, Lanzarote, Canary Islands (Graham Hogan)

(4) Lanzarote. On 26.2 the individual found earlier in the winter at Tias Golf Course, Lanzarote, Canary Islands was relocated (F.Javier García Vargas).

BROWN SHRIKE Lanius cristatus(1) 1ST FOR SPAIN
(1) Tarragona After 40 days (!) the bird seen at suburban areas of Deltebre, Tarragona, by the river Ebre, on 31.12.2014 then on 6.1.2015 by single author (Iain Hartley) had been last reported, it was relocated and seen again on 9.2.2015 (Ricard Gutiérrez, Sergi Sales) when aged as a 1w.

The news were broadcasted but the bird was seen intermitently and was elusive. But it was seen again on 10.2 (Mariano Cebolla, Sofia Rivaes) again with no photos. However, on 11.2 it was photographed (Vicente Tamarit). See photos below. And on 12.2 too (J.Ignasi Barrachina; Mariano Cebolla). See photos below. On 13.2 it was not seen in the usual place but on 14.2 a party of over 30 observers coming from abroad and as far as Valladolid relocated the bird at Sorrapa fields, by the place of the 1st sighting on 9.2 and new photos and videos could be obtained. News were featured on 13.2 at Catalan Television Tv3 (see video below) too. (Juan Sagardía, Xurxo Piñeiro, Jana Marco, Carles Martínez, Lluís Gustamante, Aleix Comas, Ferran López, Maria Cabau, José Luís Copete, Toni Alonso, José Portillo, Grabi de Jesús, Carles Durà, Mariano Cebolla, Roser Solé, Josep Tantull, Bernat Iglesias et al). On 15.2 it was seen again at the lemon-tree orchard by a group of c.30 people and a TV3 team (see video below). It was videoscoped (see below) and photographed (Ricard Gutiérrez, Rafael Armada, Helena Arbonés; Mariano Cebolla, Sofia Rivaes, Felipe Rosado, Fernando Salas, Alberto Somoza, Màrius Domingo, Xavier Aute, Marc Noguera, Pancho Pou, Xavier Idígora et al). On 16.2 it was seen too (Oriol Clarabuch; Quique Carballal et al) and it remained the whole following week: 17.2 (Nico Ordax, Guillem Rius; Carles Oliver), 18.2 (Nacho Castelao, Clemente Álvarez Usategui), 19.2 (Joan Ventura), 21.2 (Jus Pérez Martín, Mª José Valencia) and 22.2 (Miquel Bonet, Manuel Caamaño, Salva Solé, Elvira Morilla, Sara Sánchez), the last days being seen more irregularly due to strong wind conditions. The bird was still visible at lemon-tree orchard, Deltebre, Tarragona on 23.2 (Xavier Jiménez; Jordi Martí-Aledo), 27.2 but at Ebre river promenade, 200m N of lemon orchard (Ricard Gutiérrez) and 28.2 (Joan Antó; Grabi de Jesús et al; Gerard Dalmau et al).
