(1) Almería . An unseasonal drake Ring-necked duck was found on 17.5 at Charcón de Rambla Morales, Almería (Raimundo Martín). On 18.5 it was still there (Rafael Fenoy). See two thumbnails here.

(1) Ciudad Real. There was a bird at Tablillas del Záncara, Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real on 9.5 (Jorge de la Cruz). See a photo below and a thumbnail here.

(2) Barcelona. There was one, seen previously in the area, at Can Dimoni, Llobregat delta, Sant Boi de LLobregat, Barcelona on 10.5 (Raúl Bastida)

(3) Cáceres. The bird featured last month at Arrocampo resevoir, Cáceres and presumably breeding there or at least visiting the heronry, continued visible and entering the colony during may, thus presumably breeding!: 2.05 (Vicente Risco); 5.5 (Javier Prieta ; Marc Gálvez ; Jose Guerra ; Antonio Núñez Ossorio; Vanessa de Alba ; Eva Palacios ; Sergio Mayordomo Ruiz); 10.5 (Pablo Vera) and 22.5 (Antolín Redondo)

(4) Ciudad Real. There was a bird at Laguna de Navaseca, Daimiel on 10.5 (Estefanía Franch, Peter Jones y Vicente Malagón).

Lesser Flamingo Phoenicopterus minor (1,2-4,5-7)

(1) Cuenca . There was an adult on 15.5 at Manjavacas lagoon , Cuenca (Delfín González). See a thumbnail here.

(2-4) Málaga . Three individuals were at Fuentedepiedra lagoon, Málaga, on 18.5 (Andy Paterson).

(1) Badajoz. There was one 2cy at Sierra de Valbellido, Salvaleón, Badajoz, on 21.5 (Marc Gàlvez). The bird remained there on 22.5 ( Francisco Montaño), 23.5 (

(1) Lugo A bird was seen on 2-3.4 at veiga de Pumar, Castro de Rei, Lugo (Óscar Rivas, Fernando Fdez., David Calleja y Toño Salazar).

(2) Barcelona A bird was seen at El Prat de Llobregat flooded fields on 10.5 (Xavi Larruy)

(3) Albacete A bird, c.f. ♂, reached Laguna de Aljibarro, La Gineta, Albacete on 7.5 (Rafa Torralba, Alfredo Mirat). See three thumbnails here (R.Torralba). It remained on 8.5 when a 2nd bird joined it (Antonio Manglano). It remained there on 9-12.5 (Rafa Torralba). See a post in his blog here.

(4) Málaga On 8.5 there was an individual at Desembocadura del Guadalhorce, Málaga (Blas López, Antonio Tamayo; A.Paterson et al). Still there on 10.5 ( Andy Paterson, Jesús Díaz, José Portillo)

(5-7) Valencia On 8.5 there was one at Tancat de la Ratlla, Silla, Albufera de València (Bosco Dies; Pedro Marín). Later on the afternoon there were two altogether! (Toni Alcocer, Pau Lucio i Pablo Vera). On 9.5 there were three! (Josep Puentes, Carme Azahara y Vicente de Alba). See two photos from 8.5 below (Toni Alcocer).

(1) Girona A bird was found at Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, Girona on 23.5 (Àlex Ollé). Later seen by another observer (Jordi Martí-Aledo). Not relocated on 24.5 (Àlex Ollé).

n(2) Tarragona A bird was found at Migjorn ricefields, Sant Jaume d'Enveja, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 27.5 (Cristian Jensen / Audouin Birding Tours). (3) Barcelona. On 6.5 a bird was flushed at cal Tet, El Prat de Llobregat, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona (Ferran López)

(4) Tarragona On 9.5 there was one at Els cavalls, Buda island, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (David Bigas, Javier Llambrich)

(5) Girona. On 10.5 one was reported from Les Llaunes, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 10.5 (Ponç Feliu at ornitho.cat)

(6) Cuenca. On 15.5 1 individual was found at a seasonal pond near Montalbo, Cuenca (Jose F. Fernández Baltanás).

(1) Girona The first for Catalonia was found at Pla de Gates, Cap de Creus, Girona on 9.5 (Albert Burgas, Janet Fairclough, Ian Robson). On 10.5 it was twitched by many authors (Àlex Ollé, Jordi Martí-Aledo; Gerard Dalmau, Joan Ventura et al). On 11.5 it was still there (Xavier Idígora at ornitho.cat).

PRESUMED 1ST FOR SPAIN
(1) León . On 8.5 a hybrid between Carrion and Hooded Crow was seen at Grajal de Campos, León (Javier Talegón). No previous records of this kind of hybrids, common in certain areas of Europe, for Spain.

(1) Cantabria . On 27.5 a bird was found at Ajo, Bareyo, Cantabria (Ángel Ruiz Elizalde). See two photos below. It was still present the following day, when also photographed (Juan Manuel Pérez de Ana) and on 29.5 (Óscar Llama) to 31,5 at least (Juan Sagardía; Ángel Ruiz Elizalde). (1) Gran Canaria. On 18.5 a male was seen near Maspalomas pond, Gran Canaria (Miguel Avelino Suárez).

*** Ringed birds in Spain have to be submitted and accepted by CR/SEO-BirdLife, according to Environment Ministery of Spain and the authonomous communities agreements, to be accepted as valid ringings in the national database. Otherwise, non submitted or rejected records will be deleted and ringings will not be included in national or international databases. Ringers not submitting rare bird ringings will be listed. Submitting ringing records is hence specially encouraged as a contribution to global bird knowledge..

Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent.Photos could be cropped for editorial reasons.Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those. Today news are marked with anew icon.
