(1-7) Asturias . The 7 birds arrived to ría de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturias in November remained there on 1.12 (Adolfo Villaverde). Still there on 7.12 (Adolfo Villaverde). And on 19.12 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui). See a photo below.

(1) Álava . The bird found on 1-2.11 at Salburúa, Vitoria, remained there on 6.12 (José Guerra, Marc Gàlvez) and 7.12 (Iván Sarabia y Juan Carlos Andrés). See a thumbnail here.

(2) Zamora . On 15.12 one individual was found at Villafáfila lagoons, Zamora (Manuel Rodríguez y Blanca Arenaz; José Barrueso).On 27.12 it was still present (José Barrueso) and on 30.12 too (Eva Palacios, Miguel Ángel Muñoz y Sergio Mayordomo)

(3) Cáceres . On 22.12 one individual was still present at Embalse del Borbollón, Santibáñez el Alto, Cáceres (Eva Palacios y Sergio Mayordomo). The bird had been seen before on 10.12 (Goyo Naharro, Fernando Salas y Antonio Torrijo), 11.12 (Hugo Sánchez, César Clemente, Ricardo Montero y Sergio Mayordomo) and 15.12 (Javier Prieta, Javier Mahillo, César Clemente). (1) Cáceres . The 1w bird found on 2.11 at El Gordo, Cáceres, Extremadura was still there on 2.12

(2) Sevilla . There was a bird at finca de Caracoles, near Huerta tejada, Aznalcázar, Parque Nacional de Doñana, Sevilla on 5.12 (Iván Sanmartín)

(3-4) Asturias. On 5.12 there remained at Villadún the two individuals that are there since 14.11 (Pablo Fernández). See a photo below.

(1) Tenerife/La Gomera. There was a bird of either of these two species (first for Spain in any case and due to be first for Spain in this 'paired species' category') at sea between Tenerife and La Gomera, Canary Islands on 10.12 (Marcel Gil Velasco). Alicante. The adult found on 8.10 was seen on 3.12 hunting over Poniente Lagoon (Graham Critchell).On 14.12 the adult bird was flushed from a eucalyptus tree c500m north of the South Gate
(Graham Critchell). On 17.12 the adult bird was being mobbed by 2 Buzzards just north of the Main OP (Graham Critchell). On 29.12 it was seen again (Miguel Ángel Andrés, Álvaro Díaz Pastor, Luis Mario Arce and others/SEO-Asturias)

(2) Alicante. On 5.12, Tonn, the Estonian subadult was seen at El Hondo, Alicante (Grahan Critchell). See a thumbnail here.On 24.12 it was seen again with a 1w (Graham Critchell).

(3) Alicante.On 24.12 a 1w was seen c800m south of the Main OP. It looked like either a 1st or 2nd winter bird. Tonn was also seen a further 100m north of this (Graham Critchell).

(2) Tarragona. There was an adult , presumably the returning individual, to Cambrils, Tarragona: On 27.12 the adult was found (Camilo Albert, see a photo in ornitho.cat). On 29.12 it was still there (Gabriel de Jesús) and on 30.12 too (Màrius Domingo).

n(3) Bizkaia. There was an adult at Getxo harbour, Bizkaia on 23.12 (Begoña Lainez y José Luis Hernández) . See a photo below. The bird remained into early 2013.

Málaga. There was an adult at Málaga harbour on 8.12 (Salvador García). The bird was ringed adn the metal ring could be read: Museum Helsinli CT-119.741 which had carried until now a PVC ring (C1KV) now dissappeared. The bird had been ringed by Risto Juvaste on 7.8.1999 at Tampere, Häme, Finland (63º33'N, 23º59'E), Wing 425.00 mm, Age Full-grown, hatched before 1998. On 11.12 there was one bird at Avilés Asturias (Manuel Quintana Becerra y Monchu Fdez Revuelta). (1) Navarra. On 29.12 a bird was found at Pamplona citadel park, Navarra (Pedro Arratibel, P.Arratibel Jr.). The bird remained the following day when twitched by more people (Ricardo Rodríguez, José Gómez Aparicio, José Ardaiz et al; Javier Train). See photos below (Ricardo Rodríguez). Bird continued there into the new year 2013.

New rarities include Sylvia curruca, Crex crex, Sterna bengalensis and others. Larus delawarensis and Anthus richardi have been withdrawn from the rarity list and are not be included from 2006.

Please contact the authors before using any photo for anything else than personal reference. Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent.Photos could be cropped for editorial reasons.Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those. Today news are marked with anew icon.
