(1) A Coruña . On 2.11 one bird was seen at ria do Burgo, A Coruña (Dave McAdams).

(2-4) A Coruña . On 2.11 one bird was found at A Frouxeira, Valdoviño, A Coruña (Alberto Monteagudo). On 4.11 they were three (Pedro Cruzado Díaz) and on 8.11 (Antonio Gutiérrez) and 9.11 (Pablo Gutiérrez) too. Still present on 13.11 and 17.11 (Pablo Gutiérrez)

(5-9) A Coruña . On 5.11 a family of five -two ads and 3 1w - was found at Sabon, Arteixo, A Coruña (Xabier Varela). See a photo below. On 8-9.11 they remained there (Xabier Varela). Four remained on 12.11 (Xabier Varela) and 3 on 15.11 (Xabier Varela) and 17.11 (Cosme Damián Romay). One additional bird, a juvenile, was found dead.Three birds remained there on 20.11 (Xabier Varela), see a photo and video below.

(10-11) A Coruña . On 6.11 two birds, an adult and a juvenile, were found at Cecebre reservoir, A Coruña (Alfonso Valeiro). They continued on 7.11 (Antonio Martínez Pernas).

(12-18) Asturias . On 7.11 there were 2 ads and 3 1w at ría de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturias (Adolfo Villaverde). Later that day two more adults arrived totalling seven (A.Villaverde). Six were present on 12.11 (Adolfo Villaverde) and the seven (one was injured) on 17.11 (Adolfo Villaverde). The 7 birds were there on 20.11 (Adolfo Villaverde).

(19) Cantabria . On 7.11 there was one individual at Ría de Tina Menor, Cantabria, (Aitor Rincón y Javier Portillo). On 8.11 (Ángel Ruiz Elizalde) and 10.10 (Miguel Grande y Ricardo Rodríguez), see a photo below.

(1) Pontevedra . On 1.11 one white morph bird was seen at river Umia mouth, Cambados (Diego Rodríguez Viéites via Galiciaves). It was still there on 3.11 (Emilio Solla Pazos via Vítor X. Cabaleiro/Galiciaves). It was apparently there on 8.11 (Manolo Carregal), see photo below and thumbnails here. Still there on 9.11 (Vítor Xosé Cabaleiro, Emilio Solla, Francisco Torres).

(1) Álava . On 1-2.11 one individual was seen at Salburúa, Vitoria (Ramón Elosegui). Still there on 4.11 (Óscar Carazo),5.11 (Ricardo Rodríguez),photos below, and 8.11 (Jesús Ucha) to 10.11 (Miguel Grande y Ricardo Rodríguez). See photos below and thumbnails here. Lesser White-fronted Goose Anser erythropus (1)

(1) Cantabria . The bird found on 29.10 at La Riva, Pantano del Ebro, Cantabria remained there on 2.11 (Manuel Estébanez),3.11 (Toño Lastra, C. D. Romai;Ricardo Rodríguez) and 4.11 (José Luís Pacheco, Manu Estébanez). See a thumbnail here. Primaries were in perfect condition, as whole plummage. Behaviour as expected for a wild bird (C. D. Romai, com. pers.). The bird was relocated at Pantano del Ebro, Cantabria on 24.11 (Mario Alonso). See a photo below. This bird was still present at Pantano del Ebro, Cantabria on 30.11 (Diego Santamaria, Javier Morala y Mario Alonso Blanco)

Blue-winged Teal Anas discors (1)

(1) Valencia . There was a drake at racó de l'Olla, Albufera de València on 9.11 (M. Chardí, J.I. Dies, I. Ruiz and others). See a thumbnail here. The bird remained there on 10.11 (P. Ruiz, J. Puentes, G. Llorens, J. Herzer, T. Alcocer, C. Azahara et al at birdingalfuera.es) and 11.11 (José Gómez Aparicio). The drake continued there on 17.11 (Rafa Torralba and SAO). (2) A Coruña . On 27.11 a ♀/1w was seen in flight from Estaca de Bares (Ricardo Hevia). This bird was different from that from Ortigueira (1) still present the same day (C.D.Romay). See a thumbnail here.

(3) Asturias . On 29.11 a ♀/1w was seen in flight from Punta de la Vaca, Gozón, Asturias (Daniel López-Velasco et al). Later in the day it was seen from Arnao, Asturias (Pablo Fernández).

(3) Valencia. On 22.11 a bird was seen at Tancat de La Foia, Sollana (J. Herzer y B. Dies at birdingalbufera.es ).

Alicante. On 2.11 the adult found on 8.10 was still around El Hondo (Graham Critchell).On 15.11 the adult was seen on the track north of the South Gate with a snake/lizard which it had taken (Graham Critchell). The adult was seen in a tree north of the South Gate which flushed and was then mobbed by a Booted Eagle on 30.11 (Graham Critchell). See a thumnbnail here.

(2) Alicante. On 9.11, Tonn, the Estonian subadult was seen flushed from the Eucalyptus trees near the South Gate of El Hondo, Alicante (Grahan Critchell).

(3) Alicante. On 30.11 another Spotted Eagle was seen at the eucalyptus trees c 600m south of the Main OP. Its plumage was exactly like Tonn (white 'V' at the base of the tail and some indistinct white marks on the upper wing) but without a satellite antenna. See a photo below (Grahan Critchell).

Asturias. The 1w found at Punta del Corno, Villadún, Asturies on 9.10 moved later to campiña de La Calostra, Tapia de Casariego where it remained with 97 Pluvialis apricaria on 1.11 (Pablo Fernández). See a photo below.

(1-2) Asturias/Lugo/Cantabria/Bizkaia. There were 2 birds at Ribadeo near Puente de los Santos and La Linera (Pablo Fernández; Jesus Landeira). The 1st summer remained at Ribadeo harbour on 12.11 (Pablo Fernández). See a photo below and thumbnail here. Still there on 13.11 (Gilberto Sánchez Jardón), 14.11 (Pablo Fernández; Antonio Gutiérrez, Pablo Gutiérrez), 15.11 (Clemente Álvarez Usategui). The bird, the same one as proven from photographs, at Laredo, Cantabria, on 23.11 (Jesús Menéndez), see photos in his blog here.Interestingly, on 25.11 it was seen again, this time at Getxo, Bizkaia, following its Cantabric tour! (4) Barcelona . One was trapped and ringed at El Papiol, Barcelona, on 6.11 (Carles Furquet at ornitho.cat)

Otherwise, non submitted or rejected records will be deleted and ringings will not be included in national or international databases. Ringers not submitting rare bird ringings will be listed. Submitting ringing records is hence specially encouraged as a contribution to global bird knowledge..

From March 2005 this webpage only includes records of birds needing homologation by CR/SEO. For other local rarities contact local bird reports or records committees. See here those rarities only for the Canary Islands also dealt by CR/SEO. Changes in application to the rarity list from January 2006. New rarities include Sylvia curruca, Crex crex, Sterna bengalensis and others. Larus delawarensis and Anthus richardi have been withdrawn from the rarity list and are not be included from 2006.



Recent reports includes the latest sightings from the whole of Spain which are both personal observations, communications or have been released in E-Mail lists. Please contact the authors before using any photo for anything else than personal reference. Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent.Photos could be cropped for editorial reasons.Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those. Today news are marked with anew icon.
