(3) Cáceres. There was a bird at Arrocampo resevoir, Cáceres, on 19.10 (José Manuel Castrillo y Fernando García Crego).

(4) Valencia. There was one at Foià, Sollana on 8.12 (J. Herzer y B. Dies).

(5) Barcelona. There was one at Can Dimoni lagoon, Sant Boi de Llobregat on 15.10 (Ferran López) and 20.10 (Eio Ramón).

(4) Cantabria. On 24.10 there was a ♂ at Lena, Cantabria (Alejandro García Herrera)

(5) Cádiz. On 31.10 a juvenile was seen at el Almarchal, Tarifa, Cádiz (J. Miguel González)

Teruel-Alicante. On 2.10 the Estonian Greater Spotted Eagle 'Tonn' entered Spain for another consecutive year (since 2009) via Aragón and stopped near Barbastro. On 3.10 it continued S and reached Teruel province at Mosqueruela. Since that day no other data appear at the Estonian mapping site online. On 8.10 the bird arrived at El Hondo with another adult , see a thumbnail here. Tonn was seen identified again on 13.10 when it flushed from the eucalyptus trees between the South and North gates (Graham Critchell).

(2) Alicante. On 8.10 an adult reached El Hondo with the Estonian eagle Tonn (Graham Critchell).The adult was still there on 11.10 (Graham Critchell)

(1) Cádiz. There was an adult at Los Lances beach, Tarifa, on 2.10 (Álex Colorado, David Cuenca, Jose Luis Garzón/GOES; Alberto Savijn, José Luis Anguita et al). (2-3) Zamora. There were two juveniles altogether at Villafáfila lagoon, Zamora on 4.10 (Cristian Osorio). See a photo below and thumbnail here. On 6.10 both were still present (Alfonso Rodrigo) but on 7.10 only one remained (Cristian Osorio). These two birds had been joined by a third on 5.10 (J.Alberto Fdez. Ugarte e Iker Fdez.).

(6) Zamora. The two juveniles at Villafáfila lagoon, Zamora from 4.10 were joined by a third only on 5.10 (J.Alberto Fdez. Ugarte e Iker Fdez.).

(7) Asturies. A second juvenile reached Ría de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies on 8.10 joining bird (4). It was still there on 9.10 (Adolfo Villaverde). Still there on 10.10 (L.Mario Arce, D.L.Velasco, Adolfo Villaverde y Luis Carrera).

(1) Cádiz. The bird found at Vejer de la Frontera, Cádiz on 30.9 remained there on 1.10 (Liz Snell, Steve Manning, Stephen Daly/Andalucian Guides; Miguel González, Beatriz Yañez, Carlos Torralvo, Javier Elorriaga, Micah Scholer & Yerary Seminario). The wader was west of Barbate marshes. The site was the grey water overflow from the Vejer sewage works near La Barca de Vejer. (1-5) Cádiz. There were five at Los Lances beach, Tarifa, on 1.10 (Pers.com. to Yeray Seminario). On 30.9 three were present including the ringed bird below (Y.Seminario). The ringed individual [D66] was ringed at Sebkhat Jeliana, Lybia on 24.7.2012 (Y.Seminario/Whitehawk pers.com.).

(1) Tarragona . On 6.10 there was a bird at Eucaliptus beach by the former camp site at the beach woodland (Ron and Christine Harold, Josep Tantull, Roser Solé).

(2) Tarragona . On 19.10 one was ringed at Buda island, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (David Bigas)

(3) A Coruña . On 22.10 a bird was seen at cabo Vilano, A Coruña (Xosé Manoel Carregal Silva)

(4) Barcelona . On 25.10 a bird was heard, then seen at Filipines marsh, Llobregat delta, Barcelona (Ferran López, Rafa Armada). They called other obsevers nearby that could see the bird too (Stephen Cristopher, Sergi Bosch, Ricard Gutiérrez). See photos below. The bird remained in the area on 26.10 (Josep Bujons at ornitho.cat) and 27.10 (Pedro Bescós) to 28.10 (José Guerra at ornitho.cat).

New rarities include Sylvia curruca, Crex crex, Sterna bengalensis and others. Larus delawarensis and Anthus richardi have been withdrawn from the rarity list and are not be included from 2006.



Recent reports includes the latest sightings from the whole of Spain which are both personal observations, communications or have been released in E-Mail lists. Please contact the authors before using any photo for anything else than personal reference. Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent.Photos could be cropped for editorial reasons.Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those. Today news are marked with anew icon.
