Still at Prats de can Comes on 14.1 (Jordi Martí-Aledo; Albert Roca; Josep Bujons, Sergi Fernández) and 15.1 (Marc Bertran; Gerard Dalmau, Alba Casals, Miguel Ángel Fuentes, Marc Bertran, Anna Mallol, Gabri de Jesús, Jordi Bermejo, Clara Lozano). (2) Zamora On 3.1.2012 there was one at Salina Grande, R.N. de las Lagunas de Villafáfila, Zamora (Cristian Osorio). It was still there on 5.1 (Fabio Flechoso e Isabel Gonzalez). On 27.1 it was at fields within the reserve of Villafáfila (Alfonso Rodrigo).

, within La Nava area, Palencia, on 11.1 (Abraham Arias, Ana Rodríguez Campo). See the thumbnail of the original sighting here (Abraham Arias). This bird is probably the same individual seen last autumn in the area. The bird was seen again on 12.1 (Miguel Rouco). See a photo below. Also seen on 15.1 (Pedro Tapia, Javier Martínez de Aramayona, Gregorio García, Angel Martínez y Jesus Ruiz). On 17.1 it remained in the area (Clemente Alvarez Usategui y David González Ortega). (3) Lleida The ♂ seen last month and from November at Pantà de Camelis, Torres de Segre, Lleida remained into 2012 at the same small reservoir: 3.1.2012 (Josep Bujons Carmona, Ramón Solà, Climent Solà, Oriol Oms, Jordi Comellas i Sergi Fernández) via ornitho.cat . (1) Pontevedra There was a 1w ♂ at Combarro, ría de Pontevedra on 15.1 within a flock of 14 Common Scoters (Javier Gómez Aoiz, Antón Pérez).See a couple of thumbnails of this original sighting here. It might be the case that this bird is the Scoter seen at Ortigueira, A Coruña until 24.12.2011 and not seen afterwards (Ricardo Hevia). On 16.1 it remained in the area between praia de Lourido and illa de Tambo, with 16 Common Scoters (Encarna González). On 17.1 it was photographed from Marín, Pontevedra (José Ramón Gómez). See photos below and thumbnails here. The bird remained in the same ria of Pontevedra and was seen from Campelo harbour on 21.1 (Stefan Aki Ragnarsson).It was still there on 26.1 (Encarna González)

(3) A Coruña On 3.1.2012 a 1w was present at Cariño harbour (Pablo Gutiérrez, Ricardo Hevia, Antonio Gutiérrez). The bird remained into the afternoon when also photographed (see under Glaucous Gull) (David Martínez Lago,Albert Cama,Matxalen Pauly y Ricardo Hevia). (1) Lugo On 13.1 a bird was identified at Os Galos, Ribadeo, Lugo (Pablo Fernández García). See initial photos in his blog. On 14.1 it was still there, see a photo below and thumbnails here (Pablo Fernández García and others). On 15.1 it remained very confident and was seen and photographed again (Pablo Fernández,Pedro J. Menéndez,Antonio Martínez Pernas y Ricardo Hevia). See another photo below. See more photos in Pablo's blog here. On 19.1 and 20.1 it remained in the area (Pablo Fernández García). It was seen again on 22.1 (Alfonso Rodrigo), see a photo below. On 24.1 it was seen again and on 31.1 too and into February (Pablo Fernández García) .

At least one of the two seen last month remained at Camping Almata,near PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona, on 2.1.2012 (Daniel Roca, Albert Roca, Àlex Ollé) and 3.1 (Joan Ventura, Gabri de Jesús, Anna Mallol, Hubert Mas).Follow the updates on this area at friend site Frontera.cat. This bird was seen again at the same site on 13.1 (Ricard Gutiérrez, Aïda Tarragó) and 14.1 (Toni Alonso). This bird remained there on 21.1 (Àlex Ollé)

Please contact the authors before using any photo for anything else than personal reference. Any submitted news to this page will be forwarded to the Spanish RC for their knowledge if enough substantiated but inclusion in this page does not imply acceptance or homologation of any kind which needs a form to be sent.Photos could be cropped for editorial reasons.Gibraltar news are included thanks to Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society but this has no more implication than the sake of completeness given this area situation. Names of localities are featured as given by the authors of the records, that should be cited as those. Today news are marked with anew icon.
