Fulvous Whistling Duck Dendrocygna bicolor (1) VERY PROBABLE FREE-FLYING ESCAPE
(1) Barcelona. A bird was found at Aiguamolls de la Bòbila, Santpedor, Barcelona on 1.9 (Marc Illa). The bird arrived to the area flying and nobody has released it. It was not ringed. Seen again on 2.9 flying in the area following a White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) (Marc Illa, Joan Manubens). See three thumbnails here.

(1) Lugo. The bird seen regularly at Riocaldo lagoons, Begonte, Lugo was relocated in the same place as last Spring on 7.9 (Toño Salazar). Still there on 12.9 (D.López Velasco)
(Fea's) Petrel Pterodroma c.f. feae (1-2,3,4-5)
(1-2) A Coruña. Two individuals were seen together (!) from Estaca de Bares cape, A Coruña, on 4.9 (Daniel López Velasco, Antonio Sandoval, Ricardo Hevia). Probable 1st observation of two 'Fea's' like petrels altogether from mainland Europe.
(3) A Coruña. A Fea's type bird was seen from Estaca de Bares cape, A Coruña, on 18.9 (Antonio Sandoval, Ricardo Hevia, Álvaro Barros).
(4-5) A Coruña. 2 individuals were seen on 25.9 from Estaca de Bares, A Coruña (Pablo Pita -both-, Ricardo Hevia -the 1st-).
Wilson's Storm Petrel Oceanites oceanicus (1-2)
(1-2) A Coruña. Two were recorded on board of 'Aula do Mar' off Cariño, A Coruña on 4.9 (José Miguel Alonso Pumar and others).
Red-billed Tropicbird Phaeton aethereus (1)
(1) A Coruña. One adult was seen from Estaca de Bares headland, A Coruña, on 18.9 (Ricardo Hevia, Antonio Sandoval, Álvaro Barros). First for mainland Spain.

Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret Egretta gularis x garzetta (1,2,3)
(1) Tarragona. The Tancada hybrid was seen again on 3.9 at the usual place near the Tancada saltpans, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Roser Solé, Josep Tantull). This individual was seen again at the same site on 11.9 (Roser Solé, Josep Tantull) and on 12.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez), see a photo below (R.Gutiérrez). The same individual remained around Tancada former saltpans on 19.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez) and 24-27.9 closer to Poble Nou (Cristian Jensen). See a photo below (C.Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours)
(2) Sevilla. There was one at Isla Menor, Puebla del Río, Sevilla on 12.9 (Paco Chiclana). See a thumbnail here. Perhaps the same individual seen from time to time at Codo de la Esparraguera, Trebujena, Cádiz where a similar individual had been seen on 11.9 (Alberto Savijn ; José Luis Anguita)
(3) Alicante. There was a bird on 26.9 (Julian Sykes) and 27.9 at Santa Pola marshes initially reported here and to the CR/SEO as pure gularis (Toni Peral, Samuel Peregrina). This might be the same (or another?) individual than the known hybrid also present in the area which was seen there too on 27.9 (Julio Merayo). See a thumbnail here.

(1) Soria On 11.9 one was presumably ilegally hunted by a hunter at Taroda, Soria (Víctor Negredo)
Rüppell's Vulture Gyps rueppellii (1,2,3,4-6,7,8,9,10,11,12)
(1) Cádiz. There was one on 4.9 over Algarrobo bird observatory, Algeciras at 14:30 hours (Javier Elorriaga, Blanca Pérez, Troels L. Petersen/F. Migres). This same site is holding almost daily observations since 25.8.2010 (J.Elorriaga pers.com.)
(2) Castelló. There was an immature at Zorita del Maestrat, Castelló on 3.9 (Jacint Cerdà).2nd record for Castelló and north-easternmost in Iberia.
(3) Cádiz. There was one subadult on 15.9 over Algarrobo bird observatory, Algeciras (Carlos Alberto Torralvo Moreno et al/ Fundacion Migres).
(4-6) Cádiz. There were 3 individuals (subadults all) at Cazalla bird observatory on 24.9: one with a gap in the secondaries/primaries; another with growing tail and another with regular tail but damaged secondaries (John Wright et al/Fundación Migres; Ricard Gutiérrez). See a photo below (R.Gutiérrez). One of these birds with regular tail was seen on 25.9 too (M.Lockwood et al). Also three had been seen on 18.9 (Daniel Kratzer) but it is not clear if they were these three or others.
(7) Cádiz. There was a subadult at Los Barrios dump on 20.9 but it might be any of the above if plumage details are not given (Mar Labrador, María Llorente y Álvaro Díaz).
(8) Cádiz. There was a bird at Casas Langavilla/Sierra del Cabrito on 19.9 (Daniel Kratzer). See a photo below
(9) Cádiz. On 10.9 a juvenile individual was photographed at Los Barrios dump (Alan Gilbertson)
(10) Cádiz. On 28.9 a juvenile individual was photographed at Cazalla, Tarifa, Cadiz (Stephen Daly)
(11) Málaga. On 29.9 an ADULT bird was seen at Ronda, Málaga, where it has been seen intermitently during the summer (Peter Jones / Andalucia Bird Society).
(12) Cádiz. On 27.9 a subadult was photographed 1st at Cazalla, Tarifa, Cadiz (Javier Elorriaga) then later at La Janda, Cádiz (Stephen Daly)
Long-legged Buzzard Buteo rufinus (1,2-3)
(1) Cádiz On 2.9 an EURING 6 but possibly Euring 7, was seen hunting near Tarifa. It is a bird not seen previously in this daily visited area and different from the adult resident female that is regularly seen from Cazalla bird observatory (J. Elorriaga, Andrés De La Cruz, Kristian Lausten, Troels L. Petersen et al /F. Migres).See a photo below (J.Elorriaga)
(2-3) Cádiz On 18.9 there were 2 adult birds at Algarrobo bird observatory, Algeciras (Daniel Kratzer). Perhaps these or another two birds were seen near Casas langavilla/Sierra del Cabrito on 19.9 while a single was at mirador del Estrecho, Tarifa on 20-21.9 (Daniel Kratzer).
Lesser or Greater Spotted Eagle Aquila pomarina/clanga (1)
(1) Cádiz On 1.9 an individual not juvenile was seen at Cazalla bird observatory during the morning (Fundación Migres). At 18:30 hours it was seen a bird, presumably the same at El Bujeo, Algeciras, Cádiz (Kristian Lausten).

(1) Alicante One bird was seen flying near Vistabella, El Hondo, Alicante on 7.9 (Graham Critchell)
American Golden Plover Pluvialis dominica (1,2,3,4,5)
(1) A Coruña. An adult moulting bird was found at Ensenada da Insua, Ponteceso, on 10.9 (Daniel López Velasco, Ricardo Hevia). Still there on 11.9 (Álvaro Rodriguez, Fernando Pereiras), when photographed (A.Rodríguez)
(2) Pontevedra. On 4.9 a moulting adult was observed with other waders at A Chanca
river mouth, Dena, Meaño (Emilio Martínez Sabarís). Still there on 5.9, when
photographed (A. Fontoira, P. Sanmartín, E. González, G. Ferreiro and E. Martínez).
Note: there was an small 'influx' of adults of this Nearctic species in W Europe those

(3) Lugo A bird was found on 9.9 afternoon at Rinlo, Ribadeo, Lugo (Gilberto Sánchez). Still present on 10.9 (Pablo Fernández García) and 13.9 and 16.9 (José Miguel Alonso Pumar). On 17.9 it was sen at Arealonga beach, Foz, c.15 km W of Rinlo (Ricardo Hevia, see a thumbnail here). See also a video here from 9.9 (Delfín González)
(4) Asturies One was found at ria de la Villa, Asturies on 11.9 (A.Villaverde, C.A.Usategui, X.Cortés) and 13.9 (Adolfo Villaverde). This bird was still there on 15.9 and 18.9 (Adolfo Villaverde) and 19.9 (Luis Mario Arce & Belén Alonso) to 21.9 and 22.9 now at El Cierrón, ría de la Villa, Villaviciosa (Adolfo Villaverde). The bird remained at El Cierrón on 25.9 (José Pedro Portillo) and on 28.9 (Adolfo Villaverde)
(5)La Palma One was seen at Las Martelas, Los Llanos de Aridane, La Palma Island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife from 10-16.9 (Robert Burton). Full information in Spanish in aves canarias blog here.

(1) La Palma One was seen at Fuencaliente saltpans, La Palma Island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 24.9 (Robert Burton). Full information and many photos in Spanish in fellow blog aves canarias blog here.
(1) Valencia A juvenile bird was seen on 2-3.9 at El Maquial, Sollana, P.N. de l'Albufera (Bosco Dies, Toni Alcocer, Miguel Piera y Pedro Marín). See a photo below (Bosco Dies). There are comments on the record at Miguel Piera's blog here.
(2) Girona A juvenile was seen at Sant Joan Sescloses, Parc Natural Aiguamolls de l'Empordà on 10.9 (Àlex Ollé).
(3) Tarragona. A bird was seen at El Goleró, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 10.9 (Rafael Armada)
(4) Illes Balears. A juvenile bird was seen at Salobrar de Mallorca on 11.9 (Lalo Ventoso, Biel Bernat). It may be the same bird seen at the same site on 9.9 but initially misidentified for another species (José Luis Martínez, Steve Nicoll y Samuel Pinya).
(5) Lugo A bird was found on 9.9 morning at Rinlo, Ribadeo, Lugo (José Miguel Alonso Pumar; Pablo Fernández García, Martín Fernández). Still present on 10.9 and 15.9 (Pablo Fernández García) and 16.9 (J.Miguel Alonso Pumar). See a video below from 9.9 (Delfin González)

(8) Valencia A new juvenile was seen on 7.9 at La Socarrada, Sueca, P.N. de l'Albufera (Miguel Piera).See a photo here (opens in another window).
(9-12) Ourense. There were four altogether at Cachamuíña, Pereiro de Aguiar, near Ourense (Alberto Rivero Saeta).
(13) Tarragona. A large bright coloured juvenile bird was found at Migjorn, Delta de l'Ebre on 12.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez). Seen later by other observers (Gerard Dalmau, Francesc Dalmau, Roser Solé, Josep Tantull, Lea Beligné).
(14-19) Valencia. SIX BIRDS were found at Marjal de Sueca, L'Albufera de Valencia on 12.9 (Toni Alcocer; Vicent Esteller i Josep Puentes ). Five of them remained on 13.9 (Toni Alcocer). (35) Valencia. One was ringed at Tancat de la Ratlla, Silla, València on 24.9 (GOTUR ringing group: Pedro Marín, Julian Martinez y M.Piera, Victor Sanz, Saúl vara,Francisco Tafarell). It seems not to be one of the six birds featured as (14-19). See a photo below (P.Marín)
(36) Asturies There was a juvenile bird on 28.9 at Ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies (Adolfo Villaverde)

(1) Valencia. An adult was found at R.N del Malvinar, El Perelló (Sueca) P.N Albufera de València on 29.9 (Toni Alcocer). On 30.9 was seen again at the same site (Bosco Dies, Vicente Esteller, Vicente Llorens, Gabi Llorens, Miguel Piera, Pedro Marín, Pepe Ruiz, Fran Lloris, Toni Alcocer). (1) Tarragona On 11.9 evening an adult in winter plumage was found at El Goleró, Delta de l'Ebre (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). It was latter seen by other authors and photographed as well (M.Cebolla, R.Armada, R.Sanmartí et al, R.Gutiérrez). See a photo below (R.Gutiérrez). The bird was seen again on 12.9 when videotaped (Gerard Dalmau, Francesc Dalmau; Marc Gálvez, José Guerra) and 13.9 (Luis José Salaverri)
(1) Tarragona A bird that had been found on 3.9 was seen near Buda Island at Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona, on 5.9 (Cristian Jensen, David Bigas, Roser Solé, Josep Tantull and others). (4) Barcelona. A bird was found at Ca l'Arana beach, Llobregat Delta, on 10.9 (Ferran López, Sergi Bosch, Maria Cabau).
(5) A Coruña. A bird was found at Ensenada da Insua, Ponteceso, on 10.9 (Daniel López Velasco, Ricardo Hevia).
(6-7) Barcelona. After not being seen on 11.9, the bird (4) or another new individual was joined by a 2nd Buff-breasted Sandpiper at Ca l'Arana beach, Llobregat Delta, on 12.9 and 13.9 (Manolo García Tarrasón, Guillermo Rodríguez and others).Both still present on 14.9 (Quique Carballal)
(8-9) Asturies. There were two at Cabo Peñes, Gozón, Asturies, on 12.9 ( Xuan Cortés, Clemente Álvarez Usategui) and 13.9 (Andreas Uppstu, Dani López Velasco, Eduardo Amengual, José Antonio García Fernández, Luis Carrera Buergo y Clemente Alvarez Usategui) and 15.9 (Xuan Cortés)
(10) Valencia. A bird was found at Sueca, L'Albufera de Valencia on 13.9 (Toni Alcocer). See two photos below (T.Alcocer)
(11) Tarragona A juvenile bird joined bird (1) at Migjorn area, near Buda Island at Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona, on 18.9 (Roser Solé, Josep Tantull; ; Xavier Larruy, Marcel Gil, Jordi Jofre, Guillermo Rodríguez; Ricard Gutiérrez). This bird was still there on 23.9 with bird (14) (Graham Critchell). On 26.9 (Julian Sykes) and 27.9 there were two birds (13 and 14) (Tony Peral y Samuel Peregrina). (1) Girona A bird was found on 29.9 at Estany del Cortalet, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona (Oriol Clarabuch; Gerard Dalmau, Elisabet Tetas, Adrià Bellvert, Joan Ventura, Jordi Martí-Aledo, Àlex Ollé, Berto Minobis, Ponç Feliu, Aleix Comas, Ramon Faura). Still there on 30.9 (Àlex Ollé, Joan Ventura, Miguel Àngel Fuentes) and into October.
Wilson's Phalarope Phalaropus tricolor (1)

This or another individual was seen at the same place on 11.9 (Javier Elorriaga; Mar Labrador, María Llorente y Álvaro Díaz). Orange billed-tern Sterna sp. c.f. elegans type (1-2)
(1-2) Cádiz. The bird ringed with PVC at Valencia and seen last month too was seen again on 3.9 at Salinas de la Tapa with its juvenile hybrid ringed with a metal ring (Rafael García Costales). The same yellow-pvc ringed individual was relocated at Matalascañas beach, PN Doñana, Huelva on 26.9 feeding a chick which showed a sandvicensis-like bill (J.Miguel Grande, Rubén Rodriguez). (2-3) Huelva. There were two adults at Marismas del Odiel, Huelva on 4.9 (Paco Chiclana)

(10) Cádiz. There was another summer plumaged adult but this with the whole black bill and also ringed on both legs at Salinas de la Tapa, Cádiz on 2.9 (Rafael García Costales). (12) Cádiz. Another adult in winter plumage ringed on right leg was seen at Salinas de la Tapa, Cádiz on 4.9 with two more birds (see above, Rafael García Costales). This individual had been ringed in the same area on 12.8.
(13) Asturies. On 8.9 an adult was seen flying W from Punta de La Vaca, Gozón, Asturies (Manuel Quintana Becerra y Clemente Alvarez Usategui)

(1-13) Cádiz. There were 13 altogether flying at Chipiona beaches on 9.9 (Paco Chiclana, Fernando del Valle, Mario

(14-17) Cádiz. There were two on 14.9 (Daniel Kratzer) and four over Bolonia caves, Cádiz on 24.9 (Bob Wright, Andy Paterson et al) but not on 25.9 (J.Sargatal, R.Gutiérrez and others).

(1) Girona. One bird was seen at La Rogera lagoon, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona on 4.9 (Àlex Ollé).
(2-3) València. A 1st winter was seen on 3.9 at La Ratlla, Silla, PN Albufera de València (Bosco Dies). The same afternoon one or probably two birds were recorded in the same site (Toni Alcocer).
(4) Tarragona. A 1st winter was seen on 11.9 at greenfield near Migjorn, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (L.J.Salaverri). Presumably this same bird was seen the afternoon of 12.9 at ricefields & green near Migjorn, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Ricard Gutiérrez, Gerard Gutiérrez).
