On 5.11.2016 a Hoopoe Lark was seen at Famara plains, Lanzarote, Canary Islands (Julio Rodríguez Martínez). Once the news were communicated, it was relocated on 6.11.2016 (Francisco Javier García Vargas, Antonio Unquiles and David Perez). It was seen again on 12.11 at Famara plains, Lanzarote (F.Javier García Vargas, David Pérez, Robin Mawer, Xabier Remirez) but it soon dissappeared and was not relocated again.
There are five previous records, last from 2007 at Chafarinas Islands, on 27.8.2007 (G.Martínez Salgado), four others from the Canary Islands, three from Fuerteventura (21.2.1997, 1.3-4.3.1998 and 9.3.1998) and another from Lanzarote (22.1.1988, García del Rey & García Vargas (2013) Rare Birds of the Canary Islands Lynx Eds, so the current record lies within the expected wintering pattern.
