Introduction
The juvenile Isabelline Shrike Lanius
isabellinus presumed to be from ssp. isabellinus) had been found
on 30.10.2006 at Rouxique, Sanxenxo, Pontevedra and remained there until
1.11.2006 much to the deilight of c.20 observers that came to see this
5th for Spain, (Pablo Gutiérrez, Samuel Paz, Miguel Rouco,
Clemente Álvarez Usategui, Xurxo Pinheiro, Pablo Fernández,
Daniel López Velasco, Tito Salvadores, Pablo Pita and others to
20 observers in total).
Four previous records in Spain had
been one in Galicia in September and the three others in the Mediterranean
coast/islands of Spain from September to December between 1994 and 2001.

Castejón).
Given the scarcity of the species and
despite the basic reference for the identification of the taxon (Worfolk,T
2000 Identification of red-backed, isabelline and brown shrikes. Dutch
Birding, 22 (6): 323-362) we think it's interesting to feature
the collection of pictures (and the video) some of the observers twitchting
the bird have produced.
