Birds in Spain
Photos
Photos by Xurxo Pinheiro, Pablo Gutiérrez and José Ramón Gómez On 9.10, two juvenile Long-billed Dowitchers Limnodromus scolopaceus were found at Embalse de Sabón, Arteixo, A Coruña (Xurxo Pinheiro et al /SEO-Pontevedra). The same day other birders from Galicia managed to see the birds and obtain the enclosed images (Xabier Varela, Pablo Pita, Pablo Fernández, J.R.Gómez...) It appears to be that the two birds might have been present in the reservoir since 7.10 when X.Varela saw two distant unidentified birds that could have been these two. The enclosed photos offer good chances for checking the characters of this species that has been only recorded ten times in Spain up to 2002.
