Blue-cheeked Bee-eater Merops persicus at Cabrera, Balearic Islands, April 2004

Photos by Marc Olivé Vázquez

Introduction

The april 2004 reports page in this web featured the report of a Blue-cheeked Bee-eater at archipielago de Cabrera, Balearic islands from 11-17.4 at least (David Cañizares,Marc Oliver). However, no documentation or photographs had been received by early summer 2004.

Marc Olivé submitted the following photos clearly showing one bird of this species and related that the bird was very confident and allowed close approaching (text in catalan):

As from the communication above, the bird stayed in this difficult to reach island (already declared National Park) from 11-17 April 2004.

The record has been submitted to the Spanish Rarities Committee
