Icterine Warbler is almost a rarity in Spain. In fact it may be rarer than some of the birds included in the list of birds needing homologation by the Spanish Rarities Committee (CR/SEO). On 5.5.2002, during a migration campaign in the Remolar-Filipines reserve, Llobregat delta, an Icterine Warbler Hippolais icterina was trapped. Few moments after, a Melodious Warbler Hippolais polyglotta was also captured and ringed. It was only the 2nd record-ever of the species in the Llobregat Delta, after a bird seen on 1.9.1990 (R.Gutiérrez; Els Ocells del Delta del Llobregat, Lynx Edicions). We include three shots of the bird. All photos depicting Icterine Warbler Hippolais icterina with Melodious Warbler H.polyglotta below for comparison in the last. 1st photo by J.L. Copete, rest by Ferran López, Maresma de les Filipines, Llobregat delta Nature Reserves, NE SPain, using Nikon Coolpix 880 .
