Shearwaters off Cap de Creus, 20 October 2001:
I.  Mediterranean and Balearic Shearwaters

The Cap de Creus is in the very NE limit of Iberian peninsula, in the Girona province,Catalunya. It is now a Natural Park (see their web in catalan here  ). One of the interests of the area is seabird passage and the presence of three species of shearwaters altogether during most of the year, despite non breeding: Mediterranean (P.yelkouan), Balaric (P.mauretanicus) and Cory's [Scopoli's] Shearwaters (Calonectris diomedea diomedea).
A number of seawatchings are conducted in this normally rough waters (for Mediterranean standards) during the winter, and on 20.10, coinciding with world bird festival events, one of those was carried out there. 
About 60 Mediterranean, c.10 Balearic and over 25 Cory's shearwaters were seen in the perhaps best area to see both Puffinus altogether.
In the view of the interest in telling both Puffinus at sea, here I enclose a number of videocaptures taken with Panasonic NV EX-3 digital videocamera and (rather poorly) captured with Avermedia TV card. All ©Ricard Gutiérrez.

A més de ser més contrastada i amb límits superiors i inferiors més definits.
